They're probably just protecting the brand, I doubt there's actually concrete plans for a movie or series.
I hope they do it, I think it would be great - and timely!
Fallout was inspired by a lot of things, one of them being The Road Warrior (aka Mad Max 2.) If you want a good post-apocalyptic movie just watch that.
ANother good one is A Boy and his Dog... it's hard to find and has a very YOUNG Don Johnson as the lead character, but it pretty much hits Fallout right on the head. I mean, the main character in the movie wanders a post apocalyptic wasteland with his dog companion, avoiding mutants, fighting off bands of raiders, and scavenging old canned goods from burned out bunkers and towns. It even has a strange city of people with an indestructible android guardian.
Oh and it shows T&A.
I'd like to see that! I'll have to try and find it at Blockbuster, sounds good!
Be warned, it was made in the late 70's early 80's i think so it DOES look dated.. and it's EXTREMELY hard to find.
But it's a great movie in my opinion. They even over the course of the movie discuss how and why people are forced to survive and reflect on the nature of a world after a nuclear apocalypse. LOL and Don Johnson's ultimate goal throughout the movie, the great 'quest' his character is on?

Getting laid.
Yes, the thing he consistently is determined to do in his travelling is to find women and have lots and lots of sex. Who cares about finding canned goods or rebuilding society, he just wants booty and will risk anything (repeatedly) to get it.
A Boy and His Dog is one of my favorite movies of all time. His quest is actually to rape women not just get laid. He gets a little more than he bargained for to say the least lol. The ending was probably the most fucked up thing ever though. It was awesome.

You can actually watch it free online. It's archived and perfectly legal.

The actual ending in the book is different, but still good movie and the book is a great read but it is only a short story and I don't think it is sold alone.

Oh, he even calls his dog "Dogmeat" !!! - and sends the dog out looking for weapons and ammo!!!
Actually he calls the dog Blood cause thats its name.

Boy and his Dogs a great Fallout inspiration particularly the 50's themed vaults and the screamers (Glowing ones to all intents)
I caught the glowing ones too. He calls the dog Blood after the very beginning of the movie, but right in the beginning he calls him Dogmeat. Re-watch the first (like 5 - 10 minutes, it was right in the beginning).

besides the fact that Fallout is very popular, as much as I honestly don't see why, I just can't seem to get into it, try as I did.

It would also be helped by the fact that Post Nuclear Apocolypse is growing in popularity at the moment. It'd be a silly move for someone NOT to make at least a short TV series about it, they'd be knee deep in money off the pilot alone, to be fair.

Then again, as I said, I never really got into Fallout (AND I TRIED in case people try to tell me I should) So i'm honestly just as "meh" as I was before I wrote this.

Just figured i'd chime in with a short opinion on the genre as a whole.

Lol told you it was an awesome movie.
The closest movie ever to come to the feel of fallout in my opinion, with the Roadwarrior being a close second.

It's a resurgence to the post-apocolyptic theme, and you are right, it is growing. I think what makes it so hard for a lot of people to fathom is that they think it is a depressing topic, and don't think anyone wants to go to a theater and be depressed - but the way Bethesda did the game was with an irony and humor injected into it, and that would make a movie based on the game ROCK if they keep that aspect in it along with the destruction and struggle for survival (while still keeping these realistic). They would have to keep it as UN Hollywood as possible.

That trailer for "The Road" looked good in a lot of ways, but it was a bit Too Too drama from what I saw, with no touches of irony, humor. I'd have to see more of the acting to know if the acting was believable, what I saw in the trailer was not as believable as it could have been.

What I loved best about "The Road" trailer was the background scenery! It was like immersing myself in the Fallout Game, and that alone would make me want to see it.

It was, and thanks for telling me about it! I caught a lot of other similarities:

Oh, and the dog calls him Albert to tick him off, just like Harold and that tree!

And "The Down Under" is like Tranquility Lane, lol.

And something that sounds suspiciously like the Enclave radio in the background in "The Down Under"

Ooohhh, that Michael was freaky!

Ewww, yuch, what an ending!
