I always liked Vaults 68 and 69: Vault 68, 999 men, 1 woman. Vault 69, 999 women, 1 man. Place your bets on how long before everything breaks down as everyone vies for access to the only man or woman in the vault.

BTW vault 68 might be undermined before population becomes an issue because of the dangerously high testosterone and even if the men didn't all fight the 1 woman can only produce 10 or so babies.
vault 69 can theoretically work because 1 man can somewhat listlessly get 999 women pregnant.
Edit: you can elaborate on vault 68 & 69 however, like the only man/woman is gay or the only man/woman is a Christian

68 is covered quite well in Battletanx. The surviving woman would become the Queenlord and worshipped by all men. Said queenlord would send men out on expeditions to find more women and evetually the population issue is resolved as it becomes a matriarchy due to years of indoctrination.

Here is one my brother thought up but it is un-Vault-Tec like
Have a vault with one man with high moral standards and babies and see if the babies grow up to become assholes to see if assholeness is innate or leaned
(However people with low moral standards can't pick out people with high moral standards that's why I said it was un-Vault- Tec like pluse it has a real purpose unlike other vaults)

Fill vault with sex addicts, give no birth control

Purposely have vault infested with radroaches

Overseer can breed any 2 dweller s/he want and the only way the dwellers can get out of it is to tell the overseer they are related but it doesn't have to be true

Half the vault is Chinese(not Asian but people from just China), sounds racist but America's opinion on China is probably bad in the fallout world

Above each person's bed is a hidden light and around each bedroom are hidden speakers. Every now and then years a random room will have the light switch on and the speakers will emit a booming voice telling the vault dweller is chosen for some purpose in the vault.

These are both stolen or modded versions of experiment I herd elsewhere but here are 2 cool ideas

everyone had memories wiped and think the vault is the whole world and there is nothing other than the vault and all history book are replaced to support that idea

Mafia game everyone will have there own room and can only communicate via radio but there are a few A.I.s trying to kill all the vault dwellers if you know the Mafia game or Town of Salem you'll get the jiff.

edit(not stolen): a vault with low S.P.E.C.I.A.L Dwellers who have Tons of info and education on S.P.E.C.I.A.L., a vault with high S.P.E.C.I.A.L. dwellers who don't know what S.P.E.C.I.A.L. is, see who do better

After a hundred years of isolation, a signal will be sent that lure wastelanders into the vault. They can get in, but never leave. How will the vault dwellers react.

Bonus Point: This can actually be done in game.

or vault 11, 12, 69, and my rad-roach vault
me sick pervert vault 69 and 70 999 women and one broken vault suit dispenser
