Is annoying when you have entire pages on what could otherwise be a worthwhile thread just people trying to point out the blindingly obvious to people I've got on ignore.
I don't blame people for pushing back at the implication that freedom of speech should be above human rights. That's the kind of slippery slope thinking that in the worse case scenarios leads people (like the responsible of the Buffalo massacre) to kill others.

True, and it's not like I never add to it either, but it's not like progress is being made.

I don't have anyone on ignore, because, for instance, I care for people's opinion on movies, series, games, etc (if they're about other aspects than how oppressively non racist they are or such boring manufactured conservative neurosis). The only pure troll who'd deserve an ignore (if not a straight ban) is tstorm whose function and reason to be on this forum is exclusively to spam extreme-right fundamentalist hate speech trash - with dishonest rationalisations that he doesn't even care about, that only serve as throwaway deflections, and that indeed attract dedicated troll-feeders. And even him I don't have on ignore.

But I agree that it's annoying to see threads devolve to zero level, unavoidably endless back-and-forth with smokes and mirrors, about stuff like is racism truly bad, isn't transphobia awesome, should the gays really have the same civil rights as humans, what is medecine even good for, shouldn't a dictatorial theocracy lead the world, isn't the climate getting better, etc. There's nothing interesting to discuss in trash of that level, and it's not even being "discussed", as these are all fanatical points on repeat.

Some threads stay fully functional, but some are firmly planted in tar, and that's a tedious shame for that site as a whole. Although it simply adds to the vague sense of abandonment that hovers on the internet forum format in general.
