Think about it how often do you hear muslim groups launching campaigns against Modern Warfare? Christians are the only religious group I've encountered that has a vocal, uncontested minority that is not content to simply abstain. If you find something morally objectionable be it a game, book, movie, etc. nobody is forcing you to suffer through it, or share it with your children.
Well, to be fair Iran did complain about BF3 and a Hindu organisation has complained about Asura's wrath. I'd say that that's kinda comparable to American Christian groups complaining about homosexuality, though the christian groups to seem to be more prolifically vocal than most...
Ok didn't know about those but what's the nature of the complaint? Is it to do with their portrayal in the games, is it because they find some part of the game morally objectionable and are boycotting it, or is it because they find some minor, entirely optional part of the game morally objectionable and demand that everyone subscribe to their morality? The first two I'm ok with, and were that the stance organizations like the FFA were taking I'd actually be defending them, but that last one is a no go.
Ok, yeah, good point lol. Iran was complaining about a game portraying American soldiers fighting in their country whilst America was posturing to invade in real life, and Hindus were complaining about the use of the flimsiest reference to their religion being the design behind a game - both kinda reasonable positions to make a point on, really. This issue is much more silly, you are right.

Would it be bad to suggest that all of us here add to the email campaign? it allows you to set your own subject line and body text, then happily forwards it to various EA and lucasfilm inboxes - a nice way to subvert the campaign?

This argument lost its credibility with me once the words "american" "family" and "values" were uttered in the same sentence.

Roll on the next big controversy in life:- "people have sex? We must inform the world!"

I think we're missing the point here. The fact that there, as of now, are no homosexual relationships in SWTOR and they are still campaigning against it is silly, yes, but they never even mentioned that you can hook up with:

-A blue chick with tentacles coming out of her face
-A Thundercat with sideburns
-A red skinned tattooed punk lady with horns
-A yellow lady with tentacles AND horns

Weird alien breeding is a-ok as long as the species isn't of the same gender...?

"American families grew up with the Star Wars film series that was family fare. The films contained no profanity, no nudity and no sexual situations,"
*SNIP PICS*

I'd love to hear a comeback from them regarding the above.
"Oh but that's a women, Women are allowed to be sexually objectified and kiss other women for our own gratification, and that is perfectly wholesome, we just don't like 2 dicks being involved."

No seriously. That IS basically their argument. (watered down but they can't really argue a better point) Hypocrisy runs rampant in their circles, some of the more militant minded families will stick to their guns, and that's fine, I respect that, but just don't play/support what you don't like then, the rest of the world would like to get on with life, don't bother us and we won't bother you.

These people need to grow. I bet this is an excuse they use to pretend their own kids might not be gay. It's those damn companies and corporations infecting poor Billy and Sally with rainbow rays of homosexualism! It must be! How else will I justify something I find strange and confusing and causes me to get irrationally angry!?

/end sarcastic interpretive drama

Edit: Also Xenophillia is A-OKAY Kids! You just can't do it with the same gender of your own species.

Herp de derp dee diddly derp.

4)Christians being the only group that gets up in arms about this sort of thing.

Actually, yesterday there was a Hindu group protesting against Asura's Wrath.

They were upset at the use of their mythology, but only went as far as leader of the group saying 'that he or other Hindu scholars "would gladly provide genuine seekers from [the] videogames industry the resources they needed for their study and research regarding Hinduism."'

Seriously though, there are plenty of examples of non-Christian religious-types (and religious-types, usually politicians) protesting the subjects of games.

So...its all fine and dandy for my Sith Lord to walk around with a slave girl who he zaps at leisure.
Who kills everything in his path, and acts like an evil monster.
But if he wants to say polish another Sith's saber....that is wrong?

Its wrong to show two men having a duel shall we say in the bedroom...but fine for that same Sith to decapitate a guy on screen?

I mean...I am heterosexual but have never had a problem with people who are homosexual or bisexual.

Why is violence okay but not sex?
I mean....I played TOR and you can do some down right nasty things to people, but if you show two people in a loving relationship with the same sex organs its suddenly awful.

Fanatics always make me facepalm.

Was there ever a time when "family values" didn't mean "let's act like entitled homophobic assholes?"
... there was that one time when the third sibling at the slave market would be 50% off. Special deal, one week only.

Anyhow, seems like Bioware is laughing all the way to the bank with all the free publicity they're getting among their - generally less homophobe - actual target audience.

I'd give them the old Arkell v. Pressdram [http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recurring_in-jokes_in_Private_Eye] response.

Seriously though I hope bioware go tell these bigots to shove it where... Yeah, that wonderfully ironic place :)

More output from the moral outrage industry. These people need help if they worry so much about what other people are doing in their games or in their bedrooms, but everyone knows that. What's important to note is that this used to be the default, nationwide attitude, and now it's being reduced to a smaller and smaller group of extremists.

"and no sexual situations,"

Other than the beginnings of an incestuous relationship. Besides, it's rated, whether previous Star Wars stuff is "family fare" or not is completely irrelevant.

Annnnd why am I even bothering with this? "Family values" is now synonymous with ignorance and homophobia.
Incestuous 'Relationship'? You mean when she kissed Luke to annoy Han?
'... that was cut short when Lucas decided they should be brother and sister', I should add. Pretty sure they'd made eyes at each other before that point too.
