Just a curious question because has that ever happened to you? You have heard of this famous movie like say Godfather, The Usual Suspects, The Deer Hunter, but never actually got to see it?

Well I have bunch to watch but to a destill it to at least 2 or 3 movies one movie I would like to watch is:

The Deer Hunter
Ben-Hur
Schindler's List

What is your list of movies you've never seen but want to?

Right off the top of my head is a number of Ghibli films. While I've seen two of the probably biggest/most notable ones (Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle), I have plenty more to go. (I've also seen Porco Rosco, Ponyo, and The Wind Rises, but I haven't really heard many people say that they're must sees of the Ghibli filmography)

I've got a 'to watch' list that's about 1800 films long, but not a lot of them are very famous movies.

Wings, The Color Purple, and The Go-Between would be some of the most famous ones I think.

The Usual Suspects. But knowing the twists kind of defeats the point. Also Citizen Kane, mostly cause I think it might be a boring, overrated movie...but I haven't watched it cause I'm worried I will be right and have to sit through it.

i've watched Citizen Kane. The movie has its great moments so its not just a movie about special effects and cinematography even though those things did help alot and the opening showcases it:

Should probably see more Tarantino, his stuff always seems to end up being a cult favourite if nothing else. Problem is the only one of his films I've seen is Inglourious Basterds which I seriously disliked and its kind of put me off

On 2001: To me the best part of the movie was the very beginning and the very end, especially the beginning. The middle part was rather eh.

Seven Samurai: Surprisingly dramatic acting from the year it was made in that it did not felt too "Old School Hollywood" like Casablanca. And it felt less.."restricted" American Cinema could not get away with the things I saw in the movie.

Godfathers: Watch it and if you have HBO on your cable they are gonna pass the Godfather Epic thursday next week which is the first 2 movies combined into one plus all the deleted scenes added making it practically 6 hours long. So treat it like you were watching a whole season of TV series uninterrupted by commericials and credits. Without Spoiling too much it is played in complete chronilogical order because Godfather Part 2 was pretty much Two movies in One which where on half on the film shows the central character Vito Corleone from his youthful beginning and the other half was the story that took place after the Godfather Part 1 movie. So basically Godfather was already a trilogy before Godfather Part 3 ever came out ;)

But anyway the movie is pretty much a Drama movie masterpiece, you want great acting, sets, and cinematography and a high stakes story? This movie has everything your looking for. Stanley Kubrick himself said Godfather is the best movie because it had the best cast.

Robocop 1. WATCH IT MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE SCI FI MOVIE.

Goldeneye: Great Bond Movie and the first to bring Bond to the modern age. Pierce Brosnan is my favorite Bond because just by looks he LOOKS like Bond in my eyes.

My personal preference of Tarantino's movies is his first 3 "Resevoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, and Jackie Brown"

Because later on his movies got a litte more "whackier" ever since Kill Bill. I prefer the more down to earth version of the first 3 which is probably why I kinda like Django the most because it was not as "Out there" as Kill Bill and Inglorious Bastards.

Carlito's Way

Though, a lot of them are Criterion Collection releases, which are always really expensive.
Carlito's Way is a decent movie. I don't know if I put it above Scarface or not. But it has its great moments.

But now let me ask something of you.

My absolute favorite genre of movie is the Crime Genre.

I love movies like Goodfellas, Casino, Scarface, Carlito's Way, Reservoir Dogs, and to a degree Pulp Fiction, American Gangster, The Departed, etc etc.

But I have never had the pleasure of watching The Sopranos so judging from your avatar you must have seen it so tell.

Since I love movies like Goodfellas and Casino, will I love the Sopranos?

Citizen Kane for the exact same reason. For all the times I've heard it referred to as basically the best movie ever made I'm afraid it won't live up to the hype. Especially since I'm not the biggest fan of dramas. Also I know what Rosebud is now, though I've been told that's not a huge deal.

Other than that...
Brazil
Schindler's List

Wow actually reading through these lists I realize I've seen a lot of the 'classics'

You should really watch Castle in the Sky, My Neighbour Totoro, and also Miyazaki's pre-Ghibli film The Castle of Cagliostro.

I really should get around to the GodFather series eventually. But it just looks SO boring...
I was once like you when I first watched it.....but the more I watched it the more I fell in love with it.

Just stay away from the 3rd movie. Not that its bad (Al Pacino was the glue that held it together for better or worse) but at times it just does have the same feel of the older movies.

But anyway if you have HBO GO or NOW they have The Godfather Epic avaliable for Streaming which is the first 2 movies combined into one plus extended footage. Bascially its like the Lord of the Rings extended edition.

If I had to narrow it down to 3, I'd say watch Django, Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction. I seriously disliked Inglourious as well, and much of his stuff just irritates me. I haven't seen Jackie Brown or the Hateful 8, but both Death Proof and Kill Bill (both parts) are really annoying, over-indulgent rubbish. I have a really hard time figuring out what is supposed to be so phenomenal about his work.

Jackie Brown has Robert fuckin De Niro. That is enough for the price of admission to be worth it.

It's easy to see the impact of Goodfellas on The Sopranos. The series creator has named Martin Scorsese as a big influence. You'll probably like it. It's a smart show with great characters. But keep in mind that it focuses more on the characters' personal lives, especially Tony's, than these movies. It's definitely a crime show, but family and introspection are big parts of it too.
I have been watching a bunch of random scenes on youtube for a long time now but it is nothing compared to watching the whole package. Most of the times it shows Tony as just being an unlikeable dick but then it shows scenes like this:

Also and I have already been spoiled but I don't care so let me say it:

Was Tony killed at the very end of the series when the screen turned to black?
