I've seen Gary Lightbody, the lead singer of Snow Patrol and the world's former BMX champion when he was BMX champion.

Jackie Chan, Robin Williams, Bret Michaels, Carlos Mencia, Scarlett "droool" Johansen. Working USO shows has some cool benefits. My all time favorite was Bruce Campbell. I met him in Dallas ten years ago at a book signing. I was dead last in line, but he stayed three hours after closing to make sure that everyone got to meet him, and he actually carried on real conversations with everyone. That's a stand up kind of guy. Most stars are all full of themselves and can't be bothered to stay even a minute over the scheduled time.

Jack Black in a Starbucks at the Dubai airport. He laughed at me for spilling hot chocolate all over my bag. Damn yooouuu, Jack Black, damn yooouu!

EDIT: I also saw Julie Andrews at Disneyland once, but I was too afraid to go up to her for fear of breaking into The Sound of Music. So I looked on in shame with a churro in my right hand... mmm, sugary fat sticks.

I'm not sure if these count, but:
My dad's met Aung San Suu Kyi and both of my parents have met Ban Ki-Moon.
I am three degrees (of separation) from, ahem, bin Laden. Yeah.

This thread makes me sad that my life obviously sucks.
Same here, same here.
How do you people meet famous people?

The only (relatively) famous person I've met is Charli Persip, but he's really old and none of you know who he is.

My jazz instructor went to Juilliard, was a concert pianist, and conducts symphonies in his spare time....
He's crazy good, but not famous.

Not so much met but I've been relatively close to Brian May, Rodger Taylor, Michael Stipe and *shudders* Zac Efron.

Oh and I've met Mark Sainsbury but no one outside of NZ will know who he is.

Quite a few of these people from high school musical 3...

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0962726/fullcredits#cast

They cannot hold their liquor, but most were actually quite nice. I can't tell you exactly which ones though because in private they do not go by their stage names (and I'm not subjecting myself to that garbage so I can tell who was who). I do have quite a bit of video of them trying to do some scenes while completely drunk, it's comedy gold.

Actually met and conversed with

Lou Diamond Phillips
Samuel L. Jackson
Jessica Beil
Cuba Gooding Jr.
Burt Reynolds

And I waved at Vigo Mortensen at a restraunt, he smiled and waved back. It was cool.

Theres others I've been in the immediate vicinity of and have had friends talk to them, also a few bands, but I don't know their individual names.

Ray Bradbury and Kurt Vonnegut at a young writers thing I got to go to from entering a short story I wrote in highschool into a contest.

I met Chuck Norris when I was in the Air Force, I got to be an extra on walker texas ranger(nothing big, I was person in crowd #122 or something).

I also meet the entire firefly/serenity cast along with Joss Whedon.

Met Shatner, Nimoy and Takei, all at seperate times but oddly enough each one while sitting next to them on airplanes.

When i used to work in the French Quarter down here in New Orleans, I met quite a few celebrities. Tony Hawk, Bob Burnquist, O.J. (kinda creepy), John Goodman, Chris McDonald, over half of the New Orleans Saints, Snoop Dog, Reel Big Fish, Kevin Costner, Hulk Hogan, Kid Rock, Elijah Wood and Sean Astin. Living at the start of one of the major mardi gras parade routes helps too with meeting famous people.

I once "slapped" Lemony Snicket and saw Weeman riding around the beach. I live next to the guy who invented the ticket machine.
