Excluding friends and family, what person do you wish was still alive today, the most?
I've been thinking a lot lately about death. Specifically, about the death of pioneers of something that never lived to see their ideas and dreams come to fruition. I was on YouTube watching a memorial video for Christopher Hitchens, a true humanitarian and wanted to know who else would fit the criteria of people that never lived to see out their work.
I guess, the main inspiration for the thoughts on death were from the Vincent Van Gogh episode of Doctor Who. I always get emotional when he's brought into that museum, sees how important he was and gets to see other great pieces of artwork.
Two others I'd like to acknowledge would be Alan Turing and Carl Sagan; I think they'd be overjoyed to see how their fields had progressed.
