As someone who reads some fanfiction, I have seen some really, really bad stuff. Also some really disgusting stuff.

But there are good ones out there. And they're usually fun to read. What I find is that the better ones are usually ones that take place in the same world/universe/ect. and tell their own story. Compared to others that tell stories about characters from a book/game/movie falling in love/having sex with others.

Again, not all are bad and not all are good. But you'll have to wade through a lot of crap to find the good.

I used to write absolutely awful fanfics. Primarily Sailor Moon. Few traces of it remain (except for one, because I don't remember the password for that account).

I still occasionally write Sailor Moon fanfiction, but it's a vast improvement over what used to be. XD (Primarily it's cosmic-horror themed these days, because it's a setting that lends itself to it surprisingly well.)

Ok I could only endure about half of that Till the End of Time video before I was painfully reminded of why I hate fanfiction and had to shut it off. Did that author ever see anything Dragon Ball related EVER? Or did he/she just pick up a few terms here and there and slap that piece of shit together?

These days, I've mostly given up reading fanfics because I can't be bothered to wade through the oceans of dross in search of the few really good ones.

Sometimes fanfiction can be absolutely great even if the idea that it spawns from is a little bit insane. However, a quick hop on fanfiction.net will reveal that too much of the stuff is simply yaoi (and not even good yaoi if such a thing actually exists) and angst.

What the hell is up with all the angst? It totally destroys the narrative. Unless the characters are from Final Fantasy in which case they haven't even gotten to the shaving age, they really should not be angsting.

Or am I just that out of touch?

The guy who wrote this tries to rewrite history in the most terrible way possible with these short stories. Such stories involving Robin Hood killing CTHULHU, Sherlock Holmes going up against the KRAKEN, Albert Einstein vs Thomas Edison, and Joan of Arc going up against a genie who apparently is revealed THE DEVIL! Do you what's also worst? The guy had a friend who edits/proofreads it yet there are still many noticeable grammar and spelling mistakes! He also wants his 'work of art' to be PUBLISHED!

I'm going off topic a bit, but I don't understand scat/watersports fetish. Who actually thinks PISS AND CRAP = SEXY OR A COMPLETE TURN ON?! Both smell, both probably taste awful, and both are WASTES! The only people I believe would be into this are mental patients at an asylum somewhere or the handful of people who masturbated to 2 Girls 1 Cup.
