I write a FanFiction in form of diary entries of Skyrim. I post it here on the Escapist... Tomorrow I will probably continue with a new entry and I will go on as long as I have someone interested in reading them.
I didn't realize you could post those here. Guess I might post the fallout one i have been writing. I also have to say yours is quite funny and well done.

The last time I actually put something decent up was....five or six years ago.

I think it's ok and I got some reviews so it's not the worst thing ever, but there are a lot of better writers in the world than me. They have the gift to put exactly what needs to be said on paper.

I read a ton. It goes from fandom to fandom, but I will forever be on a fanfic site...because I read almost anything.

I used to write fanfiction when I was a melodramatic 13 year old (not saying all fanficcers are like this, that's just how I was) you know like the Twilight books but with other people's characters. I used to post them all up, but as I got a little older I got more interested in my own stories so I haven't written any in years and deleted all my own fanfiction. Nowadays I do my own crappy melodramatic original work and most of it involves BL so I won't post it here so I don't scar anyone.

yea if you look at my link it's from 2009 and still unfinished, it was one of my better ones, or so I've been told. But post and link it up, I really want to get back into it, and all you guys are really getting me back into the spirit.

Personally, i think the whole idea of fan-fic is wierd. Sure, if you like it, bully to you, but i can't get into it really.

Although, having said that, i have wondered several times how i would go about writing a fan-fic for minecraft. Personally, i don't think it would be too hard, but it would most likely have to be a first-person narrative, like a diary or something.

I'm quite good at it, but that shouldn't be surprise considering my background. :D
Why do you avoid Space Marines?
They are pretty much my favourite part of the 40k universe...
Yes, I know that's not really original, but hey, that's just me :p

Also, what is your background, if I may ask?
Pardon me, but I'm just curious.

OT: To be honest, I used to look down upon the whole "Fan fiction" department of general fandom.
To meet it always seemed to be solely a playground for Mary Sues, shipping and similar things, rather annoying and itchy stuff, in my humble opinion.
So I avoided it, until recently when I read a crossover fanfiction of Warhammer 40k and My Little Pony.

Oh boy, I don't regret reading that.
It was great, it was simply great.
In terms of quality it's quite on the level of a Black Library novel, really astonishing in my opinion.
[small]Or maybe it just tickled me on the right spots, who knows...[/small]

So, I've been purged from my bias, and now I'm hoping that I find more fanfics who play in that league.

I considered writing one before, but the problem here is that my skills concerning crafting literature are not really... remarkable...

Seeing the Halo fan fiction that was just posted up I wondered how many people actually write their own fan fiction and what level you consider yourself to be on. I write many different ones but the only one I have posted up is a Naurto FanFiction.

[link]http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3218877/1/Kiba_and_Hinata[/link]

Many people have said it was good but its my only clean one most of mine aren't really family friendly.

But if you write put a link up or go there and upload it then link us. I'd like to see some Escapists writing on here.
Halo Fanfiction on the escapist? Could you post a link?

Unless I had the idea for something like Cupcake, I won't go writing fanfiction. I prefer true stories using the writer's own ideas.

Here you go, but be warned, it is pretty damn long. Five chapters done so far, I'll be updating with the final two when they're written, as well as a couple of extra supplementary pieces :)

I've written some, but I rarely get any father than a couple thousand words- I always scrap it, as I could totally do something better.
As for reading fanfiction, I rarely do, for I have better things with my time like... I dunno, video games and such.

I've written a few Warhammer fanfics. the first was a semi-serious, commissar against chaos lord. the second one I wrote was noise marines against Sisters of Battle, and any realism was thrown out the window after a daemon prince mutated one of the girls into a killer guitar.

This guy [http://www.fanfiction.net/u/152431/Magus523] is my favourite fanfic author. He does novelizations of games - entries in the Mega Man, Zelda, and Metroid series plus Chrono Trigger to name a few - casting characters as cynical and genre-savvy [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/GenreSavvy] without being fourth-wall-breaking. If you like your games to have fuller stories and don't shy from long novels, definitely give him a look. Actually, if you're in that category, the > 60,000 words filter on fanfiction.net is probably a great way to find good stuff, since the percentage of crap seems to go down as stories get longer.

The only fanfic I've ever written was a rewrite of the post-credits ending of Dragon Quest IX, written mainly because the protagonist does the equivalent of taking a Ferrari when the other option was a $50,000,000 cash prize, in the sense that you can use it to buy the Ferrari and still be rich as hell. I never published it because I was too timid/embarrassed at the time and with hindsight it's pretty cheesy and implicitly violates a ship [tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Shipping] that is itself implicit in-game.

Note, I haven't updated these ones in a while. Lots of ideas, but they haven't been around as long as the Kauravan story. I've got another update coming for the Guard story soon, but the Sidro Harrah story might take some time.
Thank you very much. I'll read it @ the work. :)

Pardon me, but I'm just curious.
I like small, overlooked details, unfulfilled potential and such. WH40k setting is full of both. There are 100s of people writing very good canon fanfic, and very few that abandon rules and just go with the flow, try something unorthodox.
Space Marines are too crude to work with for my taste. Simple folk, workers, farmers, engineers, soldiers, milita - they are much more interesting now. ;)

My background ? Nothing really important, no afflictions with Games Workshop etc. Just a less-known, still, a writer. :)

I don't read fanfic. So much of it is just crap, [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/SturgeonsLaw] I don't want to bother.

I don't write it either, unless you consider the short background stories [http://webbstuff.net/pyroblog/?page_id=492] I sometimes write for an RP or my Fallout 3/NV liveblog as fanfic.

I have an account on Fanfiction.net; http://www.fanfiction.net/u/1970559/, and though I do not write a great deal of stories, nor do I write at a fast pace, I do read a lot of fanfics. In the Super Smash Bros section I am actually known more so for my reviews of fanfics than my stories which is how I've come to be known as Review King Souldin.

While the title of Review King is nice I do hope that I will become better known for my writing over time, rather than my reviews, OC submissions, appearances in other peoples fanfics, or the beta reading I do for authors who all seem to be more popular than I.

I used to read a little Professor Layton and TWEWY fanfiction, although not really that much. I must admit, quite a lot of it was well-written. It certainly wasn't a deluge of terribly written dross with awkward crack shipping, unlike the fanfiction of urban legend (which has already been mentioned in this thread). Now MLP is on the scene, I read quite a bit of that and have even started a fledgling writing hobby of my own: http://www.equestriadaily.com/2011/08/story-tough-love.html

I am currently attempting to write more, but life has a habit of leaving me with too little free time at the moment.

Did you know that some authors and holders of intellectual property consider fan fiction to be copyright infringement?

I made two fanfics for Valkyria Chronicles. One was a short story, the other was a story that was 22 chapters long.

The latter, looking back, I don't think it was that great. But it probably would have turned out horrible if I didn't listen to the great reviews and feedback I recieved from it.

Here's the link to it if you want to read it. I warn you I was pretty amateurish when I first wrote this, so it takes a while to pick up.

For those who have played Valkyria Chronicles as much as I have, you can probably guess who this story is about by looking at the title.
