My parents made me wear one on a school trip that was a horrendous shade of bright, neon yellow and purple when I was eight.

I'm still scarred.

So, never, I will never wear one again.

I've never worn one, but I admire the art that they inspire:

EDIT: The video doesn't seem to like being embedded. It's a Ben Folds Five song, if that helps:

I wore one of the front facing ones when camping a couple of times. It looks kinda dumb but you look dumb anyway when you're in 4 layers of thermals and have a large backpack. You can get into one without having to drop, rummage through and pick up your big pack.
I have a small bag with strap that goes across the chest for when pockets aren't enough. That works fine. Don't know why I would need one of these for general use.

When I was 12, I wore one my Dad gave to me because it was getting too worn out to hold whatever he held in it. I also thought friendships made at year 12 of my life would last forever. I no longer have any interest in some of those friends and I have long since given up the fanny pack.

My Dad still likes them though.

Both my mom and my grandma bought a matching pair of fanny packs last year... and they constantly reminds me of when I used to have one throughout elementary school, which I used to hold either all of my Pokemon cards, my Game Boy Advance with a copy of Pokemon Ruby[?] in it, and/or a set of various Beyblade parts just in case I had to "let it rip" at a moment's notice...

Right now? Not really... yet, I do have one stored in my dresser drawer for some reason... I tend to just switch off between two duel-strapped backpacks of varying size and pocket count that clearly show that I need new backpacks in my future...

Being a lifeguard, I have to. I'd never wear one in public (I think they look a little silly, and I never carry around enough to necessitate one), but I use one all the time on the job.

Though I never actually wore it I did used to use a fanny pack to carry my Gameboy advance + all the games I had for it around when I was a kid but I usually just threw it into a backpack with the rest of my stuff whenever I went on a trip or something

Yes, across the front while at shooting ranges.
...I'm nowhere near as fast as this guy:
But a reversed fanny-pack and some cardboard serves the same purpose as his tactical rig.

Here in Sydney the only people that wear fanny packs are teenage hoodlums, ravers & druggies. all three often blend together. I don't wear them because i don't want to be associated with those kind of people. Also I've got a small backpack to carry everything i need, everything else goes in my pockets.

Huh, and here all my life I was told they were only for fat people or the physically disabled.
They are pretty ugly and un-stylish so if you want something that's un-stylish and holds stuff why not spring for cargo pants?

No, I haven't worn one since I went to Sea World in 3rd grade, also like 1990. And this is coming from someone who just today spent the day walking around at Chichen Itza with two DSLR cameras, an umbrella and a stupid visor hat.

I do wear one sometimes when I ride my bike. Usually if I don't have secure pockets I'm sure my stuff won't fly out of while pedaling. Large enough to hold my wallet, phone and keys, but small enough to leave my back open to breathe.

Other than that, I never wear one.

Outside of work? Not a bats chance in hell, I have a messenger bag for that, and the only reason I wear one for work is because I have no choice, seeing as I work as a delivery driver, but thankfully it matches the colour of my uniform, which makes it harder to see.

EWWWWW! Heavens no! I used to when I was a little kid, but it was the 90s, we all made bad decisions back then. :p

If I want to have a bag to carry stuff in I will just use a messenger bag, or a backpack.

The only person I've seen with one is this creepy guy who comes into my work to oggle my coworkers.

So no I don't.

They seem like one of those things that border on the epitome of practicality, but gods, I wouldn't be caught dead with one. They aren't the most hideous accessory in the world, but they are just so damned tacky.

I'd sooner wear the dozen-pocketed cargo pants I wore as a teenager.

In the uk they aren't really a thing, unless you're at a small fair or "fate" ... you know how like a traveling fair will come through and set up a few rides (like "top spin" or just about any "thrill ride" from roller coaster tycoon 2). People manning the rides, might wear one to hold money in.

Other than that you might get the odd (in both meanings) old person wearing one but they are usually unseen.
