Farcry 2... Where Have You Been my Whole Life?

The game itself sorta sucks, but then I found the golden gun, and then the game was all about breaking that ************.

It's quite a good game. Annoying though that it's no good trying a stealthy approach because the AI can see everywhere.

That game's story was close to non-existent, stealth didn't work at all, yet was an aspect of the game. Piss poor AI, with every single NPC you meet in the wilderness being hostile. WHAT THE FUCK MAN? They could easily have made it a better game, instead they went for a half arsed, buggy, no-story sandbox game with EXTREMELY repetitive copy & paste missions.

I'm not sure exactly what people dislike about it so much, but I'm sure they have their reasons.

Here's what I disliked about it:

The respawning enemies
The repetitive nature

The not-very effective stealth

I did get into it more towards the end when I unlocked all the cool explosive weapons though. It was gloriously gratifying to be able to just mangle the jeeps with one shot from the grenade launcher.

The free-form approach to the missions was cool too, it was always fun and just the right level of challenging (I played on normal and thought it was well balanced)

The AK47 in that game was really fun to use too.

4. If you didn't have malaria

I didn't mind that so much actually. It was just that you had to do really shitty missions to get new pills.

and you had to go crawling back to the town every time you got anywhere worth being...it totally just felt like a leash to me

Ugh... rented it, played it for like an hour, just didn't appeal to me. It was like there was no sense of accomplishment. I go and clear out a base, but then I go back and everyone is there again! And not being able to drive the annoying jeep without dudes up your ass half the time. Plus, if you're trying to sneak up on people, it doesn't even matter, they shoot straight towards you even if you are in a 3 foot high thicket of brush!

Positives:

- It's really pretty
- Surgical animations
- Buddies

Negatives:

- The narrative tries to be deep and meaningful, but it appears 3 times (for about 5 minutes each) at the start, middle and end.
- Enemy camps respawn once your back is turned, so all the ammo you've just bought is spent on them instead of your mission
- Fast travel is a pain in the arse
- Enemies know your exact position, even when you're sniping from a considerable distance
- Stealth system isn't very good
- The machete requires 2 hits for a kill, even though:

a) You're stabbing them right in the back
b) Everyone in the world knows that knives > guns in games!

- Malaria is just annoying
- The map is too big and boring
- There's nothing to do other than the main missions (bar find diamonds - whoop)
- The factions are near indistinguishable
- Characters are flat and dull including the Jackal who (like the story) tries to be all interesting and deep but only has a screen time of 10 minutes max.

That's all I can think of right now.

I couldn't have said it better. I'll stay with CryTek's games instead.

I always loved invading an enemy stronghold by throwing Molotov´s, watching everything burn and picking of the survivors with a sniper rifle.

I wish it was like farcry intincts. nothings better then running full pelt in to a solder then hitting him so hard he flys up and hits a tree 8 meters above you.

I wasn't a big fan, but I did enjoy the level editor. Some of the levels that some people have made are craaazy
