So, yeah. We really can believe ANYTHING about Egypt. Next thing, you'll tell me they're the ONLY one of the Middle Eastern countries to have peace with (and recognition of) the State of Israel.

[edit: The peace treaty is, in fact, true. They brokered peace in exchange for the Suez canal. Don't hate Egypt.]

Bad Escapists! Bad! When something seems too messed up to be true, you fact-check it. It only takes a few seconds to Google the truth. On the other hand, playing fact-checker around here is pretty fun, so maybe it's in my best interest if you guys continue being terribly irresponsible news consumers.

(Here's a hint: when a Moroccan news agency has to cite the freaking Huffington Post (for god's sake!) about events supposedly taking place in Egypt, that is a bit suspicious.)
thats it in one. its a hoax story that apparently professional journalists didnt bother to research
hmm now that you mention it i did hear about this story first on TMZ and that alone should have put up at least 18 red flags right there

The thing that creeps me out even more than the necrophilia is the lowering the age of consent that the law also (apparently) does.

Thankfully, it apparently isn't real.

I scanned the linked second debunking article, and from what I gather it did not actually say it was false, just that they figure it is false and others did also. did I miss the critical line or something where it was patently shown to be false? ( not that I think it is real, in fact I can not imagine it is real, but still...)

I did. Thanks for likely baiting me to get another warning.

The only source for the story is some random guy. I suppose if you consider the word of some random guy to be credible, then no, I can't disprove it.

Yes, because it's so much more likely that I am intentionally attempting to ruin some random person's day than it is that I am simply frustrated by the way people just uncritically accept these sorts of stories. That is totally the way the world works.

Errrrmmmmmmmmm... I am sorta a nihilist in the realm or morality so I do not have any immediate objections but no doubt there are some hidden ramifications just lurking below the surface of this decision.

When did Egypt get a new government? Aren't they still in the midst of a revolution? Last I heard was a couple of weeks ago there was controversy over the people running for election.

Either way, sounds like bullshit to me.

I... wow. Who the hell does this kind of thing!? Why would they allow for this? I'm just confused that it even made it that far.

Nothing new in this. Back in the day of ancient Egypt, when a good looking woman died they use to leave the body to go off for few days before sending it to the embalmers for mummification. Just to stop post mortem fiddling.

They have elected a new parliament, which in now dominated by the Muslim brotherhood. A whole range of new laws of have come out since the election from ending the sale of oil and gas to Israel, to allowing man to have sex with their dead wives. The new parliament is largely following a Salafist agenda. The army have yet to set a date for presidential elections and there on going protests about that. However since the parliamentary elections the collation between, secularist democrats, Coptic Christians and the Muslim brotherhood has broken down. There have been widespread attacks on the Copts and attempts to pass laws banning political opponents from standing in the presidential elections.

Eh, as long as the wives give their consent before they die that their husbands can continue having their way with them, who am I to judge? Go for it!

Seems like bullshit. It's also not on the BBC's site, which is generally a sign.

Don't they know that's how zombies are born?! At least according to Cannibal Corpse... Revocation claims zombiism is an STD, but that's just silly.

This is a bad idea. I do not approve. Penises do not belong in dead vaginas.

If the Daily Mail doesn't believe this sensationalist headline, I'm inclined to agree with them. Because you know they'd be cashing in if there was even the tiniest sliver of truth.
