Lol, actually it seems that TIME added Farmville in more of an angle of humor rather than dark intentions:
"Blast you, Farmville. The most addictive of Facebook games is hardly even a game ? it's more a series of mindless chores on a digital farm, requiring the endless clicking of a mouse to plant and harvest crops. And yet Zynga, the evil genius behind this bizarre digital addiction, says more than 10% of Americans have logged in to create online homesteads. How many hours of lost productivity does that translate to? Tough to guess. But for me, personally, at least dozens. Sorry, TIME"
Let's not forget that they also wrote this article that Farmville is in the Top Ten of everything in 2009: http://www.time.com/time/specials/packages/article/0,28804,1945379_1944827_1944833,00.html
It seems that the author from TIME who wrote this article even plays Farmville

. His intention was to communicate that Farmville is so addictive in it's repetition, and that is what makes it bad. Though I would not be one to play Farmville, it's just not my thing XD. I think it`s pretty obvious to most everyone though, that Farmville is not a " Worst Invention". After all, it has more players than WoW, is tremendously profitable, easily portable to other websites, just to name a few points. Whether a few people like it or not, Farmville is technically a good invention. Though if you are a core gamer, Farmville is a little too casual for you.
The article and the list is worth a read for a bit of humor like the one about Sony CD Copy Protection:

or Hair in a Can:

Though this article doesn't come off as supporting hatred and bias towards these products. Though I can see how it can be easily taken out of context.
And for all you Croc lovers out there:

I should send this to a few people I know o~O!
Let's not forget that Tomagotchis are on this list, now would you classify this as a worst invention? Not anyone in the stock market around that time, nor would any one of the tens of millions of kids who owned one:

It's obvious that there are a few humorous ones in this list, and should not be taken out of context.
