Farscape was fantastic. That's really all that needs to be said. No point in trying to rank it above or below anything else.

(Is there something wrong with me if I'm a nerd... yet I don't do lists?)

Um, anyway, yeah, I watched maybe an episode or two back when it originally aired here, but finally went through the entire series a year or two ago.

I like my sci-fi to be more comprehensible and logically bound with reality. It seems those large factions colliding in Farscape have two or three representatives ruling all their politics. FS tries to be epic when it obviously cannot, and thus fails as much as Stargate in analogical situations. More "camera" scenes and stories feel much better though.

For me the best sci-fi series out there were Firefly and Babylon 5, with Star Trek following next. Those ones managed to deliver what they wanted to deliver better, then FS did.

Are you kidding? Farscape was fairly good, but it wasn't all that. Stargate SG1 was way better. Hell, Stargate Atlantis was better than farscape. Farscape crashed into the shit show about half-way through.

Hm, I am not sure about the best, but it is certainly very, very good.

There is some oddity that I dislike every now and again (Chiana can be annoying and I don't like Stark). I have not finished watching everything yet - I'm going by what is on Netflix, so I don't know how much of the overall story I have got up to, but I think I am on the last season that they have.

The show has a great mix of fun story-lines, interesting characters, questions regarding morality, great (and relatively novel) characters and a huge heaping of humour - exactly what I like in a sci-fi show. My other favourites include Stargate SG1, Stargate Atlantis (I know it was not as well received, but I was able to see it all on Netflix and loved it), Firefly and Warehouse 13; precisely because of these elements.

I enjoy other sci-fi stuff of course, whether it is more serious stuff like Event Horizon and Star Trek TNG/Voyager or "campy" stuff like Doctor Who, original Star Trek and Blake's Seven (the latter by virtue of age more than anything else really).

As I said, Farscape is certainly a contender for the best, I certainly have a hell of a lot of fun watching it. Great, great show.

In case you can't tell due to the size, my avatar is Crichton from the episode "Cracker's Don't Matter" - loved that one for the sheer insanity of it :D.

I guess there's a reason Fargate happened, and Ben Browder, and Claudia Black hopped on at the end of SG1?
Holy crap, really?

I love Stargate but I could only watch it a few years ago, and in somewhat random order, on Sky (the DVD sets are way too expensive for me at the moment). I absolutely must see this!
Yeah, Claudia Black had more time on Stargate SG1, not as Aeryn, mind you, and Ben was not Crichton, rather O'niel's replacement.

There was a Fargate comic book series a while ago, IIRC which had a Stargte and Farscape crossover.

never watched farscape but i doubt it's the best.. that honor belongs to Stargate SG1 with Star Trek the Next Generation in second place
