So apperantly in the Rat-mans dens in Portal 2 there are radios that emits this odd beeping, but that beeping can actually be translated into information.

When translated it creates these pictures.

I personally think that the fine folks at VALVe are geniuses for thinking this up.
Any thoughts?

Looks like... a cube on the moon.

Huh.... Valve really outdo themselves at these weird sorts of things.

The beeping is a transmission language for sending images via audio called SSTV. (It's like fax, but over radio instead of telephone.)
It was one of the encoding methods in the Portal 2 ARG last year and the Potatoes ARG the other month.

Yeah Valve have been doing this sort of thing for a while now.

Probably my favorite game marketing team of all time. Having said that, their marketing stuff wouldn't work without the community they have. If they had, say for example, CoD's community, I don't think it would work as well.

I'm gunna assume that this means Rattman eventually woke up from his stasis pod and decided to send his beloved companion cube to the moon with a portal gun. That's.... a pretty damn cool ending to his story.

Because people who play COD don't play Portal, completely mutually exclusive groups.

On topic, pretty cool. I really like it when developers add little things like this, really adds to the game.

He's saying the communities are vastly different, and he's completely right. It's not on an individual basis - of course people in one camp can be part of the other, but that does not mean both camps are the same.

This was only a small taste of what the folks at Valve have done. You should have been part of the Portal & Potatoes ARG. There were puzzles in that that would have blown your mind.

No, it's easy to come up with something like that.

The real geniuses are whoever the hell discovered that. I seriously think that some people comb through every single part of the game and crosscheck every single thing that happens (and some that don't) with some kind of freakishly huge internet database.
