Was in a thread recently, and fashion came up, very, very briefly; basically, is it pointless etc. Searched, no threads came up, figured I'd do one myself.
I reckon that fashion in an everyday sense can be extremely important; it can tell you a lot about someone's mood (at least at the start of the day), and in a more general sense, about what/how they think about themselves and how they want to be seen. Clothes aren't just things for keeping in warmth; they're a form of expression, and in some senses an art.
Other kinds...well, the example I was given was when people "start putting phones in their hair". I've never seen that. Ever. But, even so, I think that if I did, and I didn't understand it, I'd let it go. It's an artistic form which I can't/won't/don't appreciate, but that isn't to say that it's worthless. Asking what the point of an incredibly unusual piece of clothing in an artistic sense is seems to be missing the point; sort of like going up to Salvador Dali and saying "LOBSTERS DON'T GO ON PHONES MORON".
Thoughts?
