Was in a thread recently, and fashion came up, very, very briefly; basically, is it pointless etc. Searched, no threads came up, figured I'd do one myself.

I reckon that fashion in an everyday sense can be extremely important; it can tell you a lot about someone's mood (at least at the start of the day), and in a more general sense, about what/how they think about themselves and how they want to be seen. Clothes aren't just things for keeping in warmth; they're a form of expression, and in some senses an art.

Other kinds...well, the example I was given was when people "start putting phones in their hair". I've never seen that. Ever. But, even so, I think that if I did, and I didn't understand it, I'd let it go. It's an artistic form which I can't/won't/don't appreciate, but that isn't to say that it's worthless. Asking what the point of an incredibly unusual piece of clothing in an artistic sense is seems to be missing the point; sort of like going up to Salvador Dali and saying "LOBSTERS DON'T GO ON PHONES MORON".

Thoughts?

I can see how some clothing may be art, but if ANYONE tries to convince me that pink glitter is a form of creative expression, I will punch them in the face.

[small]..........cause' everyone knows pink glitter went out YEARS ago..........[/small]

So what you're saying is..... my dress totally clashes with my leg hair?
Anywho, it's a form of self expression same as tattoos and piercings. As for pink glitter...ugh *shudder* glitter is the herpes of the craft world.

I find the vast majority of currently fashionable clothing absolutely ridiculous. I also have a tendency to say it very loudly near people who wear such clothing...

I try to dress as different to other people as possible. But I don't take it to seriously. I dress in a gothic way mainly beacause I like the clothes more than the usual Jeans and T-shirt look that most other 18-30 year old's wear.

As long as they keep me warm and not naked and don't make the eye go blind when they see me I'd wear anything.

Well everyone has their own style and that's completely fine with me everyone should dress how they feel they should i just don't like seeing everyone dress alike people often times just mimic other peoples clothes

I go with what Al Murray says.

"In every pack of hunting dogs, there's a dog at back who is blind. He's at the back so he cans mell where he's going. Basically, he's following arseholes. And that is fashion."

argh i saw the word fashion and this [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0GkRvMuQL8] song is now stuck in my head.

But whatever you try do and escape fashion you will keep up in a generalized form of what the trend is of the time, i.e. 60's 70's and 80's had there unique fashion.

People who wear things and look like twats for the sake of fashion are annoying.
People who wear things and look good are ok.

What if you wear something and look horrible? What's the verdict?

Fasion is only as deep as it looks. The idiots are the people who try and make it more than what it really is.

I go with the saying wear what's comfortable.

So my clothes may be old and a lil' ragged but damn they're comfortable.

If it's only for fashion then they're a twat. If it's just they look horrible then it's ok, everyone has an off day.
