I don't really like alcohol. The only ones I've tried that didn't make me choke or retch were all Japanese (plum wine, sweet sake, and normal sake, hot).

The first time I had sake was in Seikesui and it was served hot in a shot glass. I didn't know you were supposed to sip it and I didnt know it was hot. I shot it and sprayed it everywhere because it was so hot. My friend laughed at me for like 10 minutes.

Mild drinks: Beer, definately.
Medium drinks: Red wine made from only a single type of grape.
Hard drinks: Well, as 'straight up' it would be single-malt whisky, no contest.
Mixed drinks: Bloody Mary, as cliche as it sounds, or plain vodka-cola.

Absinthe but I never had it but I'll try it when I can
It's legal in the US. I had some the other week. It's not the kind that makes you hallucinate though.
That's an urban legend, absinthe does not make you hallucinate, it just gets you drunk. Good and drunk.

Beer: Yuengling

It is an awesome beer, but not available too many places outside of the East Coast of America. Luckily that is where I live.

Ale. Badger Ale. (cue bond theme)

To be more specific Badger Champion Ale.

This is the best beer/ale/any kind of drink you can get outside Brentford.

No it isn't. Old style Absinthe contained hallucinagens made from opiates. That's why it was banned in a number of places. Newer Absinthe doesn't contain opiates, obviously, but it's not an urban legend to say that it once did.

An interesting aside- one of the main producers of old style Absinthe in France was a Mr Pernod. When Absinthe was banned he started to produce a lighter, more accessable drink. This is where Pernod came from.

I always tend to stick to bitters and ales like Guinness, John Smith's and Newcastle Brown Ale, lately though I've been addicted to Jagerbombs.

If I'm to drink it'll usually be some sort of beer or ale. I'll have stout too.

Whisky is good too. I don't drink it much though; it's the sort of thing that'll kill you.

I would really like to see your proof of this. Especially because Opium does not make you hallucinate, it, and the drugs derived from it, are used as painkillers. I have never once heard any credible account of the drug causing hallucination (unless you count movies and popular culture references).

It was banned because it made people seem crazy, much the same as just getting really drunk. There was absolutely no research done on the topic, people just assumed it was making them hallucinate. They were just trying to crack down on alcohol consumption.

Also, that is the first I have heard of putting Opium into absinthe, most people just claim that it was the Wormswood that makes the hallucinations (also false).

As far as beer goes, I mainly drink Blue Moon and Drop Top. Guiness on tap ONLY... god awful otherwise. I also have a thing for red wine. Gives you a nice kick in the balls. Probably why I have such an appreciation for stouts.
