Death's mistress, from Sword of Truth. btw, the thread title should probably contain a spoiler warning.
This was from a book series, as was the song of fire and ice, tho that one came after your post
Really? those are book series? The thread doesn't specify, or at least it didn't when I posted.

I just finished the last air bender, so Zuko comes to mind.
i agree and not just for being awsome he realy changes along the series from the litle boy who just wants his jerk dad to love him to a completly diffrent person in a good way
he also gets an happy ending which is nice :)
another that comes to mind is magneto apart for just being awsome his redemption is a story of leting childish anger go and accepting reality which is a hard thing to do...

He was my favorite back then, and he's still my favorite today. The guy practically embodies the "enemy who becomes ally" trope, at least for anyone who grew up in the 90's.
umm for the benefit of us who never watched power rangers who is that? and what was his story?

Mr. Freeze from Batman the Animated Series (even though he appeared twice in the whole series)
The best thing about Freeze was his appearance in Batman Beyond. He knows he's beyond redemption, so he puts an end to it.

Dinobot! He lived a warrior and died a hero
This.

Also, while Tommy Oliver was nothing more than a lapdog and a tool under Rita's control, he goes on to be something like the Power Rangers equivalent of Batman.

Also, Tohru (Am I spelling that right? It's been a while...) from Jackie Chan Adventures.

And Hexadecimal from ReBoot was pretty cool. Does Mouse count as a bad guy turned good, since she was a mercenary working for Megabyte when she first appeared? I don't care, she's awesome too.

Would Angel from Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Angel: The Series count? He started off as a rebellious Irish drunk, then became a mass-murdering vampire, than the whole Gypsy curse convinced him to be good by the time the series began...

I can't really pick a favorite. Pretty much any good guy who began as an antagonist is awesome.

That's Tommy Oliver, the green ranger come white ranger come red ranger then other red ranger and, at his last appearance, black ranger (Yeah, he's gone through a few power changes.). Waaaaay back in the original season, Rita had a power coin for some reason and decided to brain-wash this classmate of the Power Rangers who was so good at fighting he could handle a group of Puttees all by himself. He spent like five episodes kicking the ranger's asses and screaming "For Empress Rita!" before they broke the sword keeping him mind-controlled and he turned good and stuck around as the most popular character, to the point that when they started switching costumes with their new powers he became the leader.

He got replaced half-way through Turbo and then came back a whole bunch of years later for one more season, Dino Thunder, where he's earned a doctorate and teaches science at that year's team's high school and serving as their mentor and fourth ranger.

He's pretty much the most famous and popular Ranger out of the entire franchise.

Viral from Gurren Lagann. Seeing him and Simon pilot Arc for the first time was all sorts of kickass.
Ah yes, this.

I would also like to mention that boxer guy from History's Strongest Disciple. Can't remember his name for the life of me though.

The Riddler (aka Edward Nigma) in the Batman comics. He was reformed for five years to the point of going above and beyond to save the lives of people who had tried to kill him, and saving Nightwing's life by bodily dragging him to the hospital and literally watching over him until he regained consciousness. His reform felt very natural and like a positive evolution of the character, and I would have loved to have seen him in a self-titled mini-series or even an ongoing.

Then a pre-reboot story randomly decided that he went evil and aged up like ten years for no good reason. Then post-reboot some character design abortion of a character who appears to be him has been seen in Arkham Asylum.

F*cking DC: one giant leap forward, two epic backflips back.

Certainly.

This guy is Tommy Oliver, the Green Power Ranger. As many people know, the Power Ranger team consists of the Red, Blue, Yellow, Pink and Black Rangers, all powered by a unique Power Coin: Tyrannosaurus, Triceratops, Sabertooth Tiger, Pterodactyl and Mastadon, respectively. But there existed a sixth Power Coin, the Green Dragon, which Rita Repulsa, the Power Ranger's mortal enemy, had possession of. She gave this coin to Tommy Oliver, a teenager with Karate skills that already matched that of Jason, the Red Ranger. She also gave him the Sword of Darkness, which allowed her to control his mind almost completely.

With the Dragon Power Coin in his possession, Tommy was transformed into the Green Ranger, and wielded more than enough power to defeat all five Power Rangers by himself. Even the Ranger's most powerful weapon, the titanic super-robot Megazord, was defeated by Tommy's Dragon Zord.

Eventually, the Red Ranger managed to defeat the Green Ranger in one-on-one combat and destroyed the Sword of Darkness, breaking Rita's spell over his mind. Now in full control of his actions, the Green Ranger realized the evil of his actions and joined the Rangers as a powerful ally and friend.
