I am looking for a new board game to play. Something that is not widely known would be great. Anybody have favorites that are worth checking out?

D&D, World of Darkness, Mouse Guard, and Clue.

It's always Colonel Mustard. Always.

You could always try "mousemate"

On a more serious note, Risk, Monopoly and Axis+Allies are good games...if you have the time

Haha Mousemate!
Are you wanting a boardgame to play over Christmas with family or something to take up with a community and conventions and everything? I used to do the hobbygame Warhammer which is a bit like Warcraft on a table you glue and paint. Its not advertised but its well known worldwide and has different series based on themes that it liberally steals from all of scifi.

triviant.

no wait, it's trivial pursuit in english.
it's really fun, at least, if you know lots of completely irrelevant things.

Axis and Allies is the best board game I've ever played. It takes a long time, but it's completely worth it.

You might also try some of the Steve Jackson games. I've had a lot of fun with Ninja Burger.

Alternatively, you could play a game of Risktego, in which you play a full game of Risk, except that instead of rolling the dice to decide battles, for each individual pairing of two little men, you play a full game of Stratego.

I think I'd recommend Stratego.

That, or Apples To Apples. It's not a board game so much as a card game, but it's still incredibly fun.

Chess. I've played since I was 4 years old.

I don't play any other board games really except for mancala, and that doesn't really need a board to play.

Thread makes me rage.

This is called the ESCAPIST, you'd think someone other than me would play euro games.

Brb, finding an old post...

Here you are.

There's plenty.

If you really have trouble clicking a link, just go play Puerto Rico, or if you're totally new to German games, then you should try Settlers or Stone Age.

Last Night on Earth is amazing with friends

...and if you have a big table, Zombies!!! (and all of it's expansions) is awsome ( the board is "make it as you play" ... so it can get big )
