Vergil from Devil May Cry 3, specifcally the second fight against him when he first uses his Devl Trigger against you. If you go into that fight with a fully leveled up Trickster style it's a pretty sweet fight.

And also the first flying colossus you fight against in Shadow of the Colossus, i can't remember too well but i think it's the fifth one you fight in the flooded ruins. I actually got dizzy from that thing flying upside down while i'm holding onto it's wing for dear life

Gotta go with the last boss battle against Vergil in DMC3. Frustrating as hell sometimes, but it doesn't get much cooler than that.

Also, I remember the battles against Starscream from the Transformers Armada game to be pretty cool, too. Not exactly easy (especially when he spams his Nullbeam cannon), but come on... it's a sentient transforming robot who turns into a fighter jet, armed with big-ass twin shoulder lasers and an energized wing blade - what's not to like?!

This battle right here.
As a gamer who grew up in the 90's, it was pretty much a given that I was a Pokemaniac, and so this final battle with Red seemed, to me, the logical conclusion of the series. I mean, after conquering both Leagues, what challenge could possibly remain other than him?

Looking back, it's a fairly straight-and-simple duel, if you go into it with a balanced team and a basic understanding of type advantages... But honestly, I was, like, 12 or 13 when I first played that game. My entire team consisted of Fire and Fighting types, and besides that, a duel with Red was the very last thing I was expecting to find on Mt. Silver.

Great fight. One of gaming's best, in my opinion.

For shear epic factor, the Hydra from God of War. That boss was 5 minutes of pure awesome.

In terms of challenge, the "Firefighter" fight in Ulduar in World of Warcraft. Unbelievably intense.

Devil from Tekken 2, when i first got the game at age 4 or 5 i was AMAZED the first time i even got up to the final level to vs him; when i finally beat him a number of weeks later it was incredible, i had done what my older brother and father had failed to do which at that age was a fair achievment.

I also had a bit of trouble beating the tortue machine thing on mgs if you want to save Meryl, it was way harder than any of the bosses >.<

I know someone already mentioned the Mortality boss fight from Planescape: Torment but I just thought I'd point out how awesome the fight with Ravel the witch (including the incredibly long and complex conversation leading up to it) in the Briar pocket-maze dimension was. If you haven't played that game go get it, it's the reason that I started playing RPGs.

Also now that I think about it Trias the fallen angel wasn't half bad either.

That is indeed the most epic (single player!) pokemon battle, Too sad it is far too easy the second time. but it is epic, i second this one

I do have a marked fondness for the giant robot bosses from Mystical Ninja 64, but...

Yeah, I'm gonna have to agree. Hell, most of the bosses in that game were awesome ('cept the Leviathan's heartcore, that one always felt too tedious). And <url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zpJj5xY1m5A>the music certainly helped, too.
