Well, I'm rapidly getting to the point where I'm less than impressed by most American fast food joints. Right now there is so much health obsession right now that the food is increasingly starting to taste like cardboard. After movies like "Super Size Me" and stuff like that the fast food industry did indeed change and not for the better, though it started before that to be honest.

Speaking for myself, I don't expect to live a full, and happy lifespan, and honestly if I get to the age for it to matter anyway my brain is liable to fall apart anyway so I don't see why I want to tack on a few extra years of rambling vegetative misery. I mean it would be nice if I DID and didn't wind up like that, but really I've come to grips long ago with what's likely to happen to me.

When it comes to people in general, I also don't think fast food has as much to do with the "obesity epidemic" which people act like is US-centric when in reality it infests most of the first world. The cause being technology, and increasingly sedimentary lifestyles, combined with depression due to people growing up being told "you are special" and then being dumped into a general rut for the rest of their lifespan. I can say from first hand experience that a lot of medications for stress, anxiety, and depression can make you pack
on the pounds. Sure, we're unhealthy, but that's simply one of the growing pains of our society and I suspect we'll find a way to cope. I suspect that genetic engineering and such is going to be one way of helping people stay in shape despite lifestyles that will if nothing else grow increasingly less active.


Err, well the point of this rant basically comes down to the fact that when they stopped making french fries with beef tallow it was a gradual downward spiral in the taste department. I can appreciate a double stack from Wendy's dollar menu, or the occasional Mcnugget, but fast food has sort of ceased to be a pleasant "OMG, I have a craving for some Mcdonalds fries" thing for years. None of the "new" chains have impressed me.

I think the last hold out was probably Arby's and when they took the potato cakes off the menu I ceased to care as that was my last real fast food craving.

best burger I've had in a restaurant/joint would be Milestone's
best fast food burger I've ever had would definitely be In-n-Out Burger

Not into burgers, prefer pizza (dominos/papa johns). If I had to get a burger t would be from my local McDonalds, I know people there, and I know they do a thorough cleaning job and also strict on food safety.

Burger King I guess. There is one right across the street from where I live and from where I work. Good for lunch time. But if there was a Wendy's there instead, I'd be there for all 3 meals.

There's a great place near my neighbourhood called the Flying Scotsman that does great burgers as well as an actual burger joint called 'Fast Eddies' which I also really like. To be honest though I love burgers and I think I've sampled a burger from every venue in Perth that sells them, to be honest I could write a book on the subject.

Dude, when kids today grow up thinking chips and soda qualifies as a meal, while not being able to see the difference between lettuce and onion, something is disturbingly wrong.

And the junk they feed the kids in school in some countries, like the UK and US...no fucking wonder they're rolling down hills and stairs? Combine that with a ridiculously static lifestyle and you have obesity.

Frankly, I can't believe someone can actually "crave" the manure they serve at McDonald's and other places. I eat at Burger King and such when I'm pretty much out of options, to keep the hunger away, or to socialize, and even then I try to stick to the things that at least taste like it was alive at some point. It's food, but it's not "real" food, and the sooner people realize that, the better.

Well, when it comes to genetic engineering I hope your wrong. Simply because I think the problem is going to get worse before it gets better because our society is going to become even more automated and "sedimentary" as time goes on. That's how it is with technology. Most countries that do not have obesity problems are also operating at a somewhat lower tech level and when we were there we didn't really have a problem either.

I can't comment about not being able to tell the differance between lettuce and an onion, since I've never run into that one. However I will concede that "chips and a soda = a meal" can be a problem, but that's not just with kids. That's part of the fact that while we do very little physically, we are always on the move even from a relatively early age. It can be very difficult to find time to sit down and cook a proper meal if you know how. One of the penelties of having both genders out in the work force means that while women aren't tied to the kitchen, generally speaking nobody is there, both genders are constantly busy, and it's not like either of them can pass on proper eating habits fo Junior when he can be on the move (so to speak) as much as you are. I remember reading an article a while back about how the stereotypical "family dinner" is dead in a lot of first world countries because it is becoming increasingly rare for everyone to be at home and settled at the same time, every day. :p

When it comes to school lunches, well according to most of the studies I've read the school menus are actually pretty healthy. Of course the prices are increasing, and on top of that not everyone eats the food in the cafeteria.

Truthfully though I think it has LESS to do with what people eat, or even how much, and more to do with the fact that even "on the go" life consists of sitting in a car, sitting or standing at work, becoming exhausted and resting to recharge before you go to bed and then getting up the next day to do the same thing. Anything you eat in that rut is just going to "sit". If your also taking medications for anxiety, depression, etc... it also causes you to pack on the pounds.

See, you can take the "get real or get fat" attitude, and there is some truth to that. But really I don't think it's one of those situations that can be changed without science, or fundemental changes to how society as a whole functions. Obesity is one of the prices of success.

They are rapidly expanding. 5 stores have opened around the Cincinnati Area here since the summer time. And its a good thing. I hope They open once closer to where I live so I could just walk there lol.

I make my own burgers. Here are some tricks to getting really good ones at home.
1. Never EVER toast the buns. It's just that much harder to chew. (Fast food stores can do it -- We can't)
2. Cheese goes with beef, mayo goes with chicken. Bacon is awesome enough on it's own but is also good with beef.
3. Use small buns so it's not hard to chew. I get bad burgers all the time cause I can't fit it in the mouth, and that was with NO toppings whatsoever.
Well, anyway, that's how I deal with the problems my burgers have. Yours might not have these troubles, but mine are so much better (for me at least) with these few notes ALWAYS ticked off.
