2000 was a great decade for animated cartoons, boasting shows like Dexter's Laboratory, Samurai Jack, Invader Zim, Ed, Edd, and Eddy, The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, and countless other television shows. Sadly, they have been canceled and replaced with stuff like Flapjack, Back to the Barnyard, and a whole other bunch of crap, some live-action tween sitcoms.

tl;dr: What was your favorite canceled show of the decade?

Mine is Samurai Jack/The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy.

Samurai Jack is a story about, well, this [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6jgDEmW9nlU]. Samurai Jack was scheduled for a movie to finish the series, but the movie never came.

The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy was a hilarious animated cartoon about the Grim Reaper making and loosing a bet with two juvenile kids. One the evil and cold Mandy, the other the blundering idiot Billy. The bet that "Grim"(Who has a Caribbean accent) lost caused him to be their friend for eternity. He eventually bonds with them and they go on adventures together. Eventually, the show slowly faded from the Cartoon Network show list, but was remembered by those who watched it.
i loved both those shows. along with futurama, and quite possibly a few others thaat escape my mind right now.

Firefly of course.

And I believe that will win this thread as it always does.
Could you explain what the show was about all I know about it is that I never watched it.
Pure awesomeness that's what :p

Seriously though, it's about a group of futuristic space pirates basically mixed with heavy Japanese culture and a bit of wild western themes.

Just watch it.
That sounds kind of like Cowboy Bebop. I'll go look it up.

Never seen Cowboy Bebop (I know, I'm insane) but from what I've heard, that's pretty spot on without all the jazzy 40s/50s inspiration of Cowboy Bebop.

Firefly's also very realistic in its battles and the physics of space and as someone who studies astrophysics, I greatly appreciate a movie/tv series that doesn't have giant noisy explosions in the vacuum of space.

... The hell. You just took away every single one of my choices; Cartoon Network getting rid of all those great shows was just one stab to my childhood's gut one after another...

I'll just go ahead and say when they axed Toonami. I grew up on that and I loved it so.
Was this before or after they went to saturday nights, and just showed fail shows like Naruto and Bleach? Cause I remember, when it was on during the week, and before they changed Tom up, AND there was actual good anime, like Mobile Fighter G-Gundam, Yu Yu Hakashu, and all those.
I remember the good 'ole days of Toonami when they played Rurouni Kenshin and the like on the weekdays and each Friday/weekend I could look forward to a new Yu Yu Hakusho. I don't believe they ever played Bleach (Probably only in Adult Swim) and Naruto was at the very end of Toonami's life.

So yea, probably before they introduced shows like Naruto and Zatch Bell (Which was decent till they started obsessing a little too much about friendship.)

This.

Samurai Jack is a close second, with either Dexter's Lab or Megas XLR 3rd.

When I watch Firefly on DVD, I like to imagine that one of the reasons it was so groundbreaking and risky was because it did not have a traditional opening credits sequence. It just skipped straight from cold open to the first scene without a fucking terrible theme song that I hate.

It makes things much easier to enjoy.

Great show. Just wish they could have just gotten Nerf Herder again.

Another vote for Arrested Development.

Although Invader Zim does deserve a comeback.

Amen!

I completely grew up on Toonami anime, so the highlight of my Friday/Saturday night was sitting down to watch Rurouni Kenshin, or Gundam Wing, or Yu Yu Hakusho, or one of the dozens of other good anime they aired. As soon as they stopped airing the good stuff, I switched to the Internet and DVDs to get my anime fix and haven't gone back.
