Dylan Moran or Dara O'Briain. Both are absolutely brilliant. Irish charm i suppose.
I rarely like American standups though, I find the majority of them too blunt or just plain unfunny.

Hard to say, but I think I'll hand it to Stephen Lynch.
Of course there's also a bunch of others, Brian Regan is awesome, Jason Maford, George Carlin, too many names really.

I thought Russell Peters on "Comedy Now" was hilarious (In a politicaly incorrect kind of way)

But if you want my opnion on the best comedian, I will have to go with Fluffy! (Gabriel Iglesias)

George Carlin, a thousand times over. I love that man, he said some of the funniest, and at the same time the most thought provoking and mine opening words I've ever heard. He's as wise as he is handsome. Why I'm referring to him in present tense you ask? Well the sun didn't let him die. Joe Pesci Either.

In descending order

Eddie Izzard - Specifically "Dress to Kill", I could watch that show forever. Few people can make the funniest stand up ever out of a subject like history. "Glorious" is also pretty good, goes downhill from there.

Jim Jefferies - "I swear to god" is probably my most-watched stand up of all time. The latest one isn't as good tho.

Mitch Hedberg - Better in short 10 minute bursts than the full 90 minute CD IMO, but those are some mind blowing 10 minutes. Just hearing him say the word "Duck" cracks me up now.

Past those 3 it get's pretty interchangable. Honorable mentions are Eddie Murphy, Dylan Moran, Anthony Jeselnik (Funniest Dane Cook impression ever!), George Carlin, Dennis Leary, Daniel Tosh, Geoff Keith, Timothy Young and Whitney Cummings.
