Can I ask, what do people see in Dane Cook?
I'm not knocking anyone's taste, I'm just asking :)
He's hip and fresh and cool. He catches all of today's kid's attention.

Just kidding, I think he's a total douche.
I can see this causing controversy with his fans :p
I don't honestly see what's remotely comical about him.
Well his jokes are just dull. They're not dry, because that can actually be funny sometimes. They're just really really boring.
Where are his fans, in his hour of need? :p

A swedish guy named Magnus Betner.

He knows exactly what he's talking about and he's extremely funny.

I would say:

Rowan Atkinson
Dagfinn Lyngbø (Norwegian Comedian)
Monty Python
Rowan Atkinson is pretty funny :)
I liked him in Blackadder and The Thin Blue line, not so much in Mr Bean and definitely not the Mr Bean movies.

I like Brian Regan. I like being able to listen to a comedian who isn't ridiculously nasty.

There's quite a few comedians I like who have already been mentioned, but my overall favourite is Chris Morris.

Demetri Martin is alright, it seems like he tries for a mitch hedberg of comedy, but doesn't quite hit the nail on the head.
I'm sorry but Demetri Martin is not going for the Mitch Hedberg style. He has a style completely to his own. At least I think it is. If you watch his show as well as his special "If I..." I think you'll realize how completely different they are as comedians.
Every comedian has their own "style" per say, but Demetri Martin's style is influenced heavily from Mitch Hedberg/Steven Wright's style of comedy. Demetri has a different style of presenting the joke, but it's the same formula.

1. One liner jokes, most of which tend to be a play on the english language.
2. No segeways in between jokes.
3. Occasionally put to low key musical accompaniment

These are the three defining qualities behind Mitch Hedberg, Steven Wright, and now Demetri Martin's style of comedy. Comedians influence each other all the time, and I'm not saying Demetri ripped Mitch off. But their style of comedy is very similar. While demetri is good, his prose and play on the english language is not quite as good as Mitch's in my opinion.

Eddie Izzard is my favorite but Dylan Moran, Chris Rock and Lee Evans also make me laugh quite hard.
