Favorite comedy

Life Stinks. It's a movie about a millionaire who loses everything. The one comedy that really made me laugh.

To be honest, going through a top 100 comedies list, I haven't seen that many. Or, some that I have, I just couldn't get into (e.g. Life of Bryan/Quest for the Holy Grail)

Hot fuzz is probably my favorite comedy ever. If looking for something a bit more obscure there's The cottage which has Andy Serkis in it, who is pretty good... wonder why he isn't in more things... as a human.

I'm glad to see someone else appreciate that one as well. In a series of mostly dogshit (like, go back and watch the first. It's not funny to begin with, and now it's dated beyond reason as well), the third is surprisingly funny. It has some of the manic slapstick of earlier Zucker/Nielsen collaborations, keeps the gags coming at a steady rate, and the two black guys constantly arguing semantics are genuinely funny.

Huh now that I think about it: All of those films have songbreaks in them.
Maybe I just like films with good music.

To me The Naked Gun is the epitome of comedy.
Earlier Mel Brooks works are all pretty enjoyable (except for the 12 chairs).
Airplane! is pretty good too.

Aww man, why you gotta be like that? I actually still really enjoy the first one but maybe that has a lot to do with the fact that my best buddy and I loved it together years ago. I reference it in an incredibly obscure way semi-frequently. In situation that are mildly annoying or just feel right I'll say "kick his ass Greg!" It never gets a laugh because no one (besides my buddy) knows what I'm talking about but I love it.

Uhh OT, I like a lot of comedies. I don't know if I could pick just one favorite. There's so many diferent types of jokes and styles and my mood dictates what kind of comedy I want to watch. Some of my favorites would be

Step Brothers
Zack and Miri make a Porno
Lego Batman
MacGruber
What About Bob

The list goes on really

I'm surprised no mention of Anchorman. It is the high point of Will Farrells career, and everything just works, there is a great flow to the jokes.

It is so quotable too. The movie never fails to get giggles out of me, even after all this time...

Movie wise, probably Airplane!, Withnail and I, In the Loop, and Ferris Bueller's Day Off. On the small screen, I like almost everything Graham Linehan has done, Blackadder, The Fast Show, Fawlty Towers, Ripping Yarns, Green Wing, and The Thick of It.

I hate Anchorman. If that's the high point of Will Ferrell's career, I'd hate to see how it could get worse.

Comics - Calvin & Hobbes, Peanuts
Radio shows - Sorry Haven't a Clue (especially the old lot leading up to Willy Rushton's death...), and occasionally the Goon Show

Ugh! I'm really bad at this. Hate watching comedy more than once unless someone with me hasn't seen it and it's actually pretty good. Comedy works best for me as a surprise and find it impossible to laugh at if it's expected. So it's more living in the moment in that sense. Improvised with wit works best. But lately, in my arrow-of-time consumption, Rick and Morty has impressed quite efficiently. And 8 out of 10 cats does countdown has had me in fits of content smiles. Oh and definitely enjoyed Coen bros movies. They have a lovely method of pleasantly surprising consistently. Ben Elton is a great satirist writer too, haven't checked out the audiobook versions by popular Brit actors still because of that aversion to repeating comedy content. Even if Rik Mayell is voicing; am that terrible.

At any rate, I've always found that what someone finds funny is extremely subjective. Everyone has their own tastes. Hell, I keep getting told that some people find Will Ferrell funny. I just consider that proof that a portion of humanity is descended from aliens.

I like comedy and there are a lot of good ones out there, both movies and series.
Movies I like are: Jump Street 21 and 22, Cornetto trilogy (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and The Worlds End), Naked Gun, Monty Python and there are so many more!
In the series department I am a fan of 90/00s sitcoms like Fresh Prince of BelAir and Friends.

I wish I could claim them as being self-discovered but I must credit their popularity with my grandfather to me knowing about them. Though Yes, Minister/Prime Minister took longer to appreciate than the other two did.
