The story of how the Soviets killed nearly all of Poland's officer class in 1940, in a wood called Katyn. I watched it with my dad, and both of us being of Polish descent and having a residual love of the land of our forefathers, we were choking back tears in the last ten minutes at what is possibly the coldest display of mass murder you've ever seen on film. There was no standard Hollywood music to make it all seem noble; Poles were just pulled one by one out of a truck, stood at the edge of a mass grave, and a bullet was pumped into the back of each one's head. The final shot was of dirt being pushed over the dead. Bloody Soviet bastards.
Harsh. I remember having to watch a film about slavery in English. It was sickening. A women took a baby (whose parents had died the night before) and just dropped off the edge of the boat. I'll never forget that film.

Transformers: Beast Wars

Yeah, I know it's a series for kids, but that scene was friggin' awesome.

Also, Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy
everyone, at the very last page, it felt as the right way to end the crazy journey

Also, I still kind of cry on the inside whenever I see Mufasa die in The Lion King :(

Terry Pratchett's 'Jingo' is based on war, and...

Near the end, when Vimes' Organiser is going off again and again with 'three twenty seven pee em, death of Captain Carrot' and just reports of death after death of all the people who've been fighting against the war, even tho it's only reporting, it still kinda choked me up.

I've always found Terry Pratchett's 'city' stuff better than the rest, as it generally satirises 'our' world more effectively.

that scene in Bloodrayne where she infiltrates that fortress and cuts the blokes ear off. when the guards go for he she stabs one through the throat, breaks one's neck and drops a chandelier another. she then goes for the main bloke and as she's about to bite his neck it cuts out. awesome video

I'm surprised no one's mentioned Call of Duty 4, when...
Paul Jackson gets nuked. And you get to play as him right afterwards to see the aftermath.

Damn, beat me to it, the both of ya did.

Bioshock-
I know this one's been done before, but Andrew Ryan screaming at you to kill him through a broken jaw was sort of unnerving. It was built up to be this huge confrontation, but you end up beating him to death with a golf club while he pretty much cheers you on.

Also, this isn't exactly a death scene, but the opening cinematic of Quake 3 Arena has one of the characters (Sarge, IIRC) fighting off a lot of guys. He runs out of ammo, and makes a mad dash into the group. They kill him, but we can assume he respawned. :D

Here's the thing though:
You can guess they all die because of the picture on the Seventh Novel.

I had this hunch as well, otherwise they all would have been there.

The statues on the ground look like...
graves...
You still haven't finished the book yet! Give it some time... you might be surprised!

Azrael from Dogma, hit in the chest with a blessed golf-club, his chest is broken like pottery, and his last words: "...But I'm a fuckin' DEMON". Genius film.

When Andrei dies and when Petya dies.
Ooh, I'll have to add:

When Anna throws herself in to that train. The whole sequence before that as she goes to the station as her mind wanders is magical.

Partly because it's a truly iconic death in fiction, and partly because I love Tolstoy spoilers.

I don't remember which book it was in, but in The Wheel of Time,
when Rand is learning to use his powers and is set upon by brigands at his campfire. He says "Kneel or be knealt" and then he beheads them all, uses his powers to line them all up, facing him, kneeling.
It's been a few years since I've read it the series, but I'm fairly certain that's how it goes down.
I don't think thats what happens at all, the only time I recall Brigands attacking Rand while he is alone is here...
Rand is going to Tear, being followed by Moirriane. He stops beside a road and makes a fire. A woman who appears to be a merchant stops and asks if she and her escorts can share the camp site. He agrees, and as they pull out knives he creates a sword of flame and kills them all, beheading her. They were all darkfriends.
