Some good stories in there if reading is your thing. If not, disregard. It can be infuriating also, missing volume 6 or 7 of some of the longer ones. So many houses robbed...looking for the rest of The Wolf Queen.
I'm not sure if it's randomized or not, but in Skyrim I got a quest to hunt down a copy of The Wolf Queen V.6 from the Winterhold College's librarian. It's apparently in the barrow to the east of the entrance of Windhelm.

I haven't read that many in-game books and can recall fewer, but of the ones I remember, I think I like Beggar Prince the best.

Read the Biography of Barenziah first, then The Real Barenziah. It's kind of interesting first hearing the official imperial account of Barenziah's life, then starting over again and hearing the REAL story which shows that she's a far more nuanced and complex character than the official records want you to believe.

"The Locked Door". It's a very rare book, which tells the story of an apprentice getting one over on their master. There are lockpicks and vampires involved, if you're willing to find it.

The Argonian Account.

In Oblivion I found Book...4? Or are there only 3...anyway I read that one and it was cool.

In Skyrim I've found volumes 2 and 3 multiple times, but have still yet to find volume 1. I don't want to look up the story on the net and would rather find it myself.

I also read the play, what was it called? "The Nightmare of Something-Something Castle."

Mostly I'll just collect books that have volumes or other books in its series and then take them back to fill my bookcases in my home with.

Every now and then when you're tired of cave-dungeon after cave-dungeon, it's nice to be able to yank a book from the bookcase, sit your character near the fireplace and read it.

Probably the story and teachings of Vivec.

It was bittersweet to see that pseudo god go in Morrowind.
The Lessons of Vivec are a good, if trippy, read.

OT: I'd say <a href=http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:poison_Song>The Poison Song is my personal favourite, but 2920, Ancient Tales of the Dwemer, Feyfolken, Palla, Withershins and the Monomyth all deserve special mention too. A Dance in Fire and The Argonian Account are also quite entertaining.

EDIT - @Smeggs - It's called 'The Horror of Castle Xyr'. You get to help perform it in Morrowind's Tribunal expansion, so I can pretty much recite the damn thing from memory. Up until "As, I hear, are all Telvanni." anyway.

Oh you're missing some good reads. The only problem with them is that they somehow seem to eat up more real time than playing the actual game.

I do a similar thing - by the way i think it xyr castle - I keep all the books in a trunk until I read them and then put them on a shelf after I finish...do the same thing in real life too...trophy mentality?

The locked Door, I didn't read it, I just found it next to the body of a skeleton resting below his hand in a locked Dwemer room, oh the cruel irony, I can imagine it went like this.

"I gotta learn how to unlock this, time to test if this book is worth the paper its written on"

*Locks door behind him*
*Attempts to unlock door*
*Failed, lockpicks gone*

"Fuck........."
