I re-posted this quickly in the correct forum. So.... yeah.

OP: By that I mean do you like jungles? Forests? Ruins? Snowfields? Deserts? Futuristic cities? And what about them do you like?

For me, I always liked jungle areas and ruins. That's why I always liked areas in WoW like Feralas, Un'Goro Crater, Scholazar Basin, and STV. I also liked the Jungle and the Ruins in Legend of Mana. They're just so green and full of color and life.

I also tend to like areas that are heavily distorted parodies of normal areas. Kinda like Netherstorm in Outlands. Even though Burning Crusade has lost its luster, I still enjoy going back there and seeing all the floating rocks and buildings. Too bad Blizzard is now implementing their "OMG LEVEL UP FASTER" rule for the game now.

Worlds that are either underwater or in the air. There is so much life everywhere when you are underwater, and there is so much diversity to it. Looking out a window, you might see a shark or a coral reef, or maybe a friendly scuba diver. Perhaps you get to explore in a submarine, or have a battle on top of a geothermal vent. The underwater structure you are in could be collapsing, and you need to find an escape before you die. This probably sounds a lot like Bioshock to most of you, and thats probably because it is. That underwater environment was awesome.

The sky worlds are fun because you almost always have some method of flying around, and I love flying in video games.

I enjoy Medieval settings, forests and villages and castles and whatnot. I also love ruins and mountain settings. Depending on how it's done, I also think deserts can be pretty cool. I don't like it when a desert is done as "all sand, all the time!", I like it when they add all sorts of giant rocks and cliffs and stuff like that in the game world, rather than just a simple desert of sand and maybe a cactus here and there.

Can't beat a bit of post apocolyptic alien planet wasteland, with a hint of green, with a few shadows to hide in

Every Snowy, Mountainous and futuristic setting. So I pretty much loved Dun Mourogh and all of the Hoth levels in Star Wars games.

I like water stages... Everybody seems to hate them but I love them. They change the pace, sometimes put an emphasis on environmental hazards. Ocarina of Time was very responsible for this.

HOLY. SHIT.

A Legend of Mana reference not made by me. I...love...you...

I really like rainy environments. Doesn't matter where. Can be the swamps of Morrowind, or the streets of Liberty City. Just have decent rain effects and decent rain sounds. I'll love it.

I usually like rolling grassy hills, light Forests, and snowy Mountains. I do not like Jungles though.. Jungles and Deserts really get on my nerves in games. I'd have to say I really loved Grizzly Hills in WoW because it had a mix of all three areas if only slightly.

Alien worlds...and I don't mean foreign planets with Earth environment, I mean Alien worlds, Outlands from WoW is a perfect example, Darkside of Xeen is another good example, I believe Morrowind goes into that category as well.

I would say lush jungle environments or hovering islands. Really, anything colorful is nice.

Ice levels are good too, if only because they always have the best music.

I actually remember someone telling me on another post about nostalgic games where I mentioned LoM, and they were like "Prepare for OnyxOblivion to respond to you." XD. No doubt, that game ranks as one of my favorites. :)

Underwater, Arctic, or a desert with cliffs and other things instead of a bleak emptiness. Also, rain is awesome in any situation.

I like surreal terrain. I love crazy distorted stuff. I loved the huge mushroom trees from Zangar Marsh and Morrowind. If I could get a good game with a sought of Avatar (as in the Na'vi one) environment I would love it. Some of the environments for the Gex games are good in that regard. As long as it is vibrant and full of life/energy I will probably enjoy it. Silvermoon area in wow I enjoyed for that reason, wonderfully vibrant.

In general, I like victorian-esque settings (like thief) perhaps with steampunk influences. However, my real weak spot is for japanese architecture. That's probably the main reason I like tenchu and onimusha so much because lord knows those games don't get an A+ in the gameplay department.
