What is your favorite environments in games? Eg urban, sky, icy snow places, etc.

I like snowy places that have blizzards and there's snow everywhere, like Hoth or Shadow Moses Island.

I quite like the urban setting. Gives something I can relate to from a day to day basis if done correctly.

Urban environments tend to do it for me. Especially in games that have a strong free-running element like Assassin's Creed or Infamous.

SPAAAAAAAAACE

I suppose that is a bit broad, I liked the halo reach and mass effect 2 environments. more specifically I like skyscraper citys with lot's of room to move around freely and explore as well as large indoor space ships with big windows orbiting planets. (although I like the jungle environment in crysis 1)

Urban environments, with the caveat being that they have to try and provide an interesting aesthetic instead of grey enemies amid grey rubble firing grey bullets from grey guns at Corporal Grey.

I feel what's most important for me in an environment is a feeling of loneliness and epicness, so I'd say a ruin in the desert or a snowy mountain top.

any environment is good, really. I especially like the ones where people live/lived and you can actually see it. for example, whatever it's other faults, I really enjoyed some of the environments in MW2. like the marine base in the very first level where you see guys playing basketball and working on humvee's, or the later levels in DC where everything got shot to crap but you could still clearly see this is a city where people lived (and it got fucked up).

Does Pretty environments count?

If so,

Places like

The Village of Oerba - Final Fantasy XIII
Castlevania Lords of Shadow (most of it)
The Ice ruins - Uncharted 2
Macalania Woods - Final Fantasy X
Ruined Zanarkand - Final Fantasy X

I like a game to have a mix of, tropical islands, snowy mountains, volcano lava places, etc

I also like environments to have something to it. It could have people, items to find, puzzles to solve, things to read that tell me something about the place. Just anything to make the area more interesting.

i love the chamber of fate in fable, megaton in Fallout 3, Rapture and the Deku tree.

but i'll always remember walking out of my escape pod in Halo CE(being only 12), that is one of those memories no number of dodgy sequels can touch.

(also the metros in metro 2033)

I love environments in a game. They can literally make or break it for me sometimes. Fable 2 got a lot of stick for shoddy UI, lazy story, poor gameplay etc. etc. but frankly it had the best environments I've ever seen. I don't know who does the design on them at Lionhead but they deserve way more than whatever they're paid.

Specifically though, places like Bower Lake and Oakfield were my favourite. They captured the atmosphere perfectly.

Not picky really, Just so long as its not yet another generic industrial/warehouse/spacestation full of crates!
Bloody crates... just because they're only 12 triangles.
