Mostly classic rock from the 1960s and the 1970s (The Beatles, The Who, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, The Band, Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, The Clash) with some prog (Rush) and blues-jazz-rock (Steely Dan). I'm also a fan of some more recent musical endeavors by Gorillaz and the Black Keys.

Noise rock, various genres of electronic music, whatever the hell bands/artists like After Dinner, Syzygys and Ikue Mori are, drone/doom metal and J-pop.

My favorite era would be around now. There's no real pattern to the years in which my favorite CDs were released, so I can't pin it down too precisely. I'm 20.

I can't put out a blanket statement for music overall. I can do it by genre (broad use of genres here. For example, I'm including bluegrass and alt-folk into Folk), though:

Punk: 1980's (Minor Threat, Mission of Burma, The Clash, Fugazi, Sonic Youth, Minutemen, The Replacements, etc)

Folk: 2000's (Wilco, Bon Iver, Laura Marling, Iron & Wine, Chris Thile/The Punch Brothers, Fleet Foxes, etc)

R&B: 1970's (Bill Withers, Barry White, Al Green, Aretha Franklin, Gladys Knight and the Pips. And though I can't name a single other song of his I like, Stevie Wonder's "Superstition" is fantastic)

Rock: 1990s (Pixies, Pavement, Smashing Pumpkins, Built To Spill, The Cranberries, Beck, Nirvana, etc)

Electronic: 2000's (LCD Soundsystem, Daft Punk, M83, Boards of Canada, Explosions in the Sky)

Rap/Hip Hop: 2000's. Yes, I thought the last decade was amazing as far as music goes. (Kanye West, Jay-Z, Wale, The Roots, M.I.A., etc)

My favorite music tends to come from punk and Folk. Wilco is my favorite band. After that, I don't order them. Among my favorites are Pixies, Sonic Youth, The Punch Brothers, Bill Withers, Minutemen, LCD Soundsystem, and Built to Spill. And I'm 23.
