Hmmm. Discworld probably, partially because they're brilliant and because Terry Pratchett is from these parts and he's amazing.

Got to be Stephen King's Dark Tower series, loved those books, in fact it may be time for another read through.

Honestly, my favorite science fiction book series is Star Wars: X-Wing by Michael A. Stackpole and Aaron Allston. Followed very closely by Timothy Zahn's Thrawn Trilogy.

As for fantasy, if the Sword of Truth series continues the quality of what I've read so far, that would be it.

I've got a deep soft spot for The Belgariad by David Eddings, I'm just fond of the pleasant writing and fun characters.

Sorry, the quote never showed up in the last one!
Mine would be A Song of Ice and Fire.

Really good storytelling, compelling, the characters are real, it goes beyond good vs. evil into a nice little gray area for all characters, and most importantly it keeps my attention without the need for some big epic battle every book.

Books

Sci-fi: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series
Fantasy: Redwall series

Anime

Sci-fi: Cowboy Bebop
Fantasy: One Piece

Movies

Sci-fi: Star Wars(all six of them, yeah, you heard me, I like them all)
Fantasy: Lord of the Rings

TV

Sci-fi: Firefly
Fantasy: Haven't seen any good fantasy shows.
I agree with most of this post. Except One Piece. Don't like that show too much. Movies I agree with (Don't like LOTR books, but movies? Hell yeah.) And as for fantasy shows: A Song of Ice and Fire has a pilot for HBO, crossing my fingers that it makes it through.

Nah, but seriously, I'm sad you don't like it. But as a One Piece fan, I have to ask if its because you saw the 4kids dub?

Maybe I'll check out that Ice and Fire series. I just hope that its not one of those shows where all the characters speak with the exact same wit and personality as one another, making each of them feel less individual.

If I were obliged to take one and only one series to the fabled desert isle, it would be Terry Pratchett's Discworld series. I love Tolkien, I love Eric Flint's "Ring of Fire" books, as well as MacDonald's Travis McGee series, but Discworld has them beat for the total amount of potential enjoyment.

1. I stay far, FAR away from 4kids. I'm just not interested in the show is all.

2. A Song of Ice and Fire is NOT a show, it is a series of books. First book is named A Game of Thrones.

3. A Song of Ice and Fire IS the best example of fantasy literature ever. No exceptions.

I'll go with a book series and say the Honor Harrington novels. She seems a bit too superhuman at times, but the created world is amazing and the combat sequences are excellent.

The Inheritance Cycle (Eragon, Eldest, Brisingr) but the 4th book won't come out for a few more years.
