This is mostly for study purposes. Whether it be from book, movie, anime, or video game, what is your favorite fictional character and why?

<-----I think you can guess what mine is.

Mine is in-fact my own character. Any game in which I can name or design the protagonist I label him Marcus, he started out as one of my characters in Morrowind whom I thoroughly enjoyed roleplaying because he was just such as evil manipulative genius bastard. Since then I've sort of figured him as some sort of dimension-travelling mastermind who seeks to gain control of every realm he enters from the Fallout universe to Mount & Blade. This guy has been with me for years haha and we've had many a adventure.

Of-course I do play other characters but this is the guy I'll start every game with until I want to try another style of play.

< go with the avatar! I love Ezio as he's a reckless noble at the begining of his story who has to take on the weight of the world in a tragic heartbeat

or Sherlock Holmes: a complex ego wrapped up in a genius(don't get me going on what Robert Downey Jr/ Guy Richie have done to him)
or Hercule Poirot: a obsessive compulsive before anyone really understood the concept
or The Stranger from my book (I'll finish it one day!)

Spider-Man.
Because no matter what age I am, he will always be the first person I wanted to be when I grew up.

Honorable mention to Chris Redfield. Not much reason other than I like the Resident Evil games and he's a general do-gooder. And we share first names.
If he were real, this'd be where we brofist.

Ehm... don't really have one, a lot to like...

However, I do like (well, I say 'like') the protagonist from my own fictional world... even though he's more pitiable, rather than likeable.

Ezio is the man, no one else compares.

(I actually thought that the RDJ/Richie version of Holmes worked a lot better than I thought it would. I was very surprised that they didn't really dumb him down for the sake of 'moar 'splosions'. Also, when you think about it it kind of makes sense that a high-functioning social recluse with a love of danger but a need for discipline and self-control, as Sherlock Holmes has always been, would teach himself martial arts.)

I guess I'm just a purist, I like Holmes to sit in his study, smoke alot and then come up with the answer, this running around jumping out of windows would never have happened!

Lelouch Vi Britannia from Code Geass, i love his sense of drama AKA his Dramatic Arm Flails which must be used when he's doing anything and everything to make everything he does look 50% more dramaticly awesome... Even taking out contact lenses

Plus y'know there's his epic plans (that go wrong 99% of the time) and for a genius he really doesn't know how Chess works (unless this is alternate reality Chess rules or something)

Though my Avatar is Katsuragi Keima from The World God Only Knows, my second favourite fictional character he can play around 12 different games at once... He calls it God Mode

Edmund Dantes (can't remember if that's spelled right) from the book the Count of Monte Cristo.
And Solid Snake from the MGS series. Both are bada$$.

Ah, this week I will answer this question with:

Askeladd from Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. He's a magnificent bastard, though his most "heinous" deed is just through coincidence. He's a decent enough fighter, but his advantages in combat come mostly through trickery, deceit, and manipulation. Plus the last time you see him in the story, he's a total bamf.

The Doctor is an obvious one, though he is aboslutely brilliant and one of the most legendary Sci-Fi figures of all time. If you need more convincing then look here:

Hmm... Tough question. Covers a lot of ground.

If pushed, I think I'd have to go with Link. What can I say? I grew up with the dude. He defines my most cherished childhood gaming experience.

Tyrion Lannister. That's based off the ASOIAF books though I admit Peter Dinklage did just about a perfect job as him.

Definitely the Doctor for me too. He's brilliant and dynamic and downright powerful.

Luna Lovegood. She's insane, though you never quite know how much is insanity and how much is simply eccentricity.

I'm glad you made this thread :D

Too many.

Cloud Strife (I sense that might be an unpopular one but I honestly think he's the best game character of all time).
Roland Deschain from Stephen King's Dark Tower novels.
Lyra Belacqua from Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials novels.
Marlow from Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad.
The Dude from The Big Lebowski.
Batman.
Hannibal Lecter.
William Gull from Alan Moore's From Hell.
Withnail from Withnail and I.
Death from The Sandman.

There are more, but they don't leap to mind just now.
