Kilik from the Soul Calibur games. I really like him as a character and he was so overpowered in III (he still is a bit too strong in IV but not that good compared to III).
Totally agree mate, Kilik is great. As was Link, pity he could only be in one game.

..Yeah, I think Link would have to be my favourite, just because he's so diversified that you have no bloody clue what I'm going to throw at yeh. Boomerangs? Bombs? Arrows? Navi's corpse? You have NO idea. ;D

Jam, from the Guilty Gear series

Is there anything more badass than a chef kicking people's asses to get better at cooking?

I submit there is not

Tekken's Yoshimitsu (not the bastardized Soul Calibur Yoshimitsu)

He was the first fighting game character with whom I became tremendously skilled, and he's fantastically badass.

And while you can technically only have one favorite, I'll have to bring up one more character because she is just too awesome and would probably not turn up in this thread otherwise.
Fighting with a gigantic living key which she is apparently in love with (!), cutting herself to throw blood projectiles (!), clad in bandages. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you... A.B.A.

Seong Mina. She has got a long range blade, and some nice kicking attacks. Although I still can't do the Mina Custom Combo...

Scorpion! There was a legend. Sub Zero was pretty fierce as well. I was always a big fan of Blanka. Firstly because he looked awesome and secondly because HE CAN GENERATE LIGHTNING FROM HIS SKIN!

Killer instinct- Glacius, Sabre Wolf, Cinder, and Fulgore
Soul Calibur 2- Spawn, Link, Nightmare
Smash Bros- Link, Samus
Dissidia Final Fantasy- Squall, Ex-Death, Golbez, Cecil, Sephiroth, Jecht, Gabranth
Tekken- ok well I hate tekken but from what I was able to tolerate, Yoshimitsu
Mortal Kombat- NONE!!!..sorry I absolutely despise MK and all it's shittyness, as a big KI fan, MK is nothing more than a sub par, boring ass fighting game.

I had epic fights with my brother in SCII. I always picked Assassin, and he'd always pick Seung-Mina. I always won with barely any life left.

If I had to choose my favorite fighting character, I would either choose:
Xion the Unborn - from Bloody Roar Series
or
Gaia - from Battle Arena Toshinden

Axl Low from Guilty Gear, for being an unparalleled keep away/counter character (until Accent Core). Archer from Fate/Unlimited Codes, for being a well-rounded badass who can fight at any range. Ukyo Tachibana from Samurai Shodown, because he's frackin' Ukyo Tachibana. Those top the list.

If I had to go on, I'd list Amy Sorel of Soul Calibur (cute fencing gothloli), Armor King and King from Tekken (the former for awesomeness, the latter for <url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYrOth7L4kM>multi-throws), and Aoko and Kouma from Melty Blood (for being an energy-blasting, ass-kicking, redheaded goddess and Kishima Kouma, respectively).

Oh nice. Big fan. So:
-Akuma on Street Fighter. For reasons mentioned above.
-Paul Phoenix and Forrest Law on Tekken. Did not know that they were partners. When I found out, I kinda remained slacked. And I do not believe in coincidences.
-Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Ermac and the tag team of Noob and Smoke. All of them in MK Deception. Scorpion was easy to pick up and play, Sub Zero had many combo possibilities, Ermac was a badass for the first time(to the point where just 2 of his hits can score 23% damage instantly) and last but not least, Noob & Smoke. These guys crapped victory. Combos, amazing specials, easy to learn, hard to master. Like Midway's basketball games, which is kinda appropriate.
-Do not crucify me for saying this, but I may be one of the few people that enjoyed Marvel Nemesis. Not the story mode, the story was good but the gameplay was flawed. It was put to the corner, kicked and punched to death. I am a comic fan and a gamer so this was a huge disappointment for a game. But there a was spark. A spark which made me change my mind for a mode. VS. It was plainly put, addicting. Try playing with a buddy. And if he gets good too and you are a pro, then you are in for some serious action. Throwing cars, punching them, using them as cover, swing, fly. missiles, crawl walls etc. My avatar should point to my favorite character. Spidey was fast, strong and incredibly agile. He was already good as a character but I must say, that when I got my hands onto him, I made him incredible. Unstoppable. Able to grab entire taxi cabs with just a string of his web and with the most stylish finisher in the whole game, Spider-Man had win written all over him. And when you manage to beat Paragon in Hard and in her alternate suit, you know that have made the right choice for a fighter.

Ryuji Yamazaki from Capcom Vs SNK 2. I don't know what he's originally from but I liked him because he looked cool and he used a switchblade as an attack.
