Here's a really weird thing about me, besides everything else. The only movies I've seen made before 1990 that are not Disney films are as thus

Terminator films
Star Wars films
Godfather 1 & 2
Scarface
TMNT

So, while I go off to Watch Clockwork Orange, why dont you share some of your favorite older films as some suggestions.

My personal favorite is The Godfather. It's the first mature film I ever saw. Though looking back on it, my father must have been fucked up to show it to a 7 year old.

That is not right. Watch more movies.

My favorite movie of all time, This is Spinal Tap, was made four years before I was born. Plenty of my other favorites are from way before I was born. Blazing Saddles, On the Waterfront, Chinatown, most Kurosawa movies, and so many others.

Apocalypse Now, perhaps. That was a fantastic watch.

Three Colors: Blue was also really good (Red was better, but was released after I was born, whereas Blue was just before).

I feel like I'm cheating since I was born in '98. It's more of a challenge to list my favourite films made after I was born. But in spirit of the thread, I choose Aliens. Why? Because it's on my shelf right now and came to mind first.

I'd probably go with 'Star Wars' and 'Superman'.

Classics like 'The Birds' have to be mentioned as well.

I was born in 90 and I have seen so many films that were made before I was born that I honestly can't decide what would be my favorite. There have been so many classics that came around in the 70's and 80's.

Scarface [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0086250/]

The Third Man [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0041959/]

The Silence of the Lambs [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0102926/]

All the Shirley Temple films were a lot of fun when I was a little kid.

I honestly can't recall any others, A Clockwork Orange is great.

Pulp Fiction [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0110912/] and Se7en [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0114369/] are amazing but don't quite make the 'before I was born' specifications.

Probably Star Wars and Indiana Jones for me, those films were my childhood even though they came out when my parents were young.

I was born in 1987 so there are plenty of famous films made before I was born like Alien, Top Gun, Star Wars and etc.

First off if Mel Brooks made it, watch it.... It's like a rule, you have to.

Umm The Never-ending Story, and Blues Brothers I would have to say are my 2 biggest films that fall into that category. There are others, but those two are the biggest.

Also, how did you manage to get to the age of 22 and NOT see Animal House? There are laws about physics you know.....

I was born in '94 so there are dozens of choices. Come to think of it, my top 5 favorite films were all made way before I was born. A few have already been mentioned!!! Let's see: Once Upon a Time in the West, Apocalypse Now!, The Godfather, Blade Runner, and Dr. Strangelove.

Good films. If you haven't seen them...why are you still reading this?

Good question. Most of my favourite films are from before I was born, but still in the years leading up to it.

I'm going to go with Bridge on the River Kwai, which is 37 years older than me!

I might go with the Princess Bride.

OT: Um... most of then. Honestly I'm not the kind of person who thinks they were "Born in the wrong generation" infact those people bug the hell out of me. However, I was born after the best years of cinema, and while modern cinema is almost as amazing, most of my favourites come from pre-95.

Easy, lots of good stuff made before I was born.
Brazil, Stalker, Big Trouble in Little China, Casablanca, Easy Rider, Casablanca, Maltese Falcon, Citizen Kane, Casablanca, Ikiru and other Kurosawa stuff. Did I mention Casablanca ?
