There are so many candidates, but the one I think that's had the most impact on me was Batman (1989). Released one year before I was born, and it cemented Batman into my consciousness.

Honorable mention goes to The Blues Brothers, I've been watching that movie as long as I can remember.

Now, my favorite movie from before I was born HAS to be A Clockwork Orange. It's the film that saved Kubrick for me, and why I am afraid to sing "Molly Malone" on the off chance Malcolm McDowell hears me

Now, to reiterate my previous point, LEGEND IS NOT WORTH WATCHING, EVER
If you want to watch a silly fantasy film, why not watch Time Bandits or Willow? Granted, I don't think Willow was very good either, but at least it has Warwick Davis (and Val Kilmer, prefailure)

Gone with the Wind.
Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte.
Anything Vincent Price is in.
House of Wax (1953).
The Bad Seed.
The Glenn Miller Story.
Disney's Fantasia.
Anything Doris Day is in.
Nine to Five.
The Incredible Shrinking Woman.
Long John Silver.
Total Recall.
The Last Unicorn.
The Flight of Dragons.
Unico (both of them).
Heavy Metal.
The 3 Caballeros.
Make Mine Music.
Dawn of the Dead.

I have exquisite taste in food, but I like my movies cheesy.

Whoa whoa whoa, are you bad mouthing the Bowie?

Can you look into this mans beautiful green and brown eyes and say that he wasn't in one of the greatest movies made since the Never Ending Story?
:D

....the answer is you can't. One look from the Bowie's magnificent gaze would even overwhelm Gmork!

Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Pretty much the best '80s movie.

Also A Clockwork Orange.

Both of these films I could watch over and over and not get sick of them.

Nobody said The Shining? I just did. Anybody who likes horror should be required to see it. It's the most copied horror film ever and nobody did it better.

Also, try Double Indemnity if you want some noir mystery.

The rest of my picks have been mentioned.

See Monty Python and the Quest for the Holy Grail immediately!
Also, Blade Runner: Director's Cut(see this one) and Soylent Green.
Ferris Bueller's Day Off is classic too.

What are you talking about? Bowie isn't IN legend.
True, but that great man is A legend.
I must ask that you fellate a kangaroo, sir. Not out of any personal disrespect, mind, as that was an excellent setup, but rather just on principle.
So, in summation, great, terrible pun, retaliatory kangaroo-fellating request, stamp the forms and move on.

now, let us be friends.

Oh god, there are alot of them. Alot of Arnold Schwarzenegger's films I love, mainly Terminator and Predator, but there are some other ones like Back to the Future; but I think I'll do a list because, as stated above, I have a LOT of favorite movies older than I am. If I just list a name, most likely I like them all. (1990)
1. Terminator
2. Full Metal Jacket
3. Back to the Future
4. Predator
5. Star Wars (The original 3)
6. Alien
7. Batman (1989)
8. Die Hard
9. Ferris Bueller's Day Off
10. Ghostbusters 1
11. Gremlins
12. Dirty Harry (First, Second, and Third)
13. Red Dawn
14. Navy Seals
15. Platoon
16. Who Framed Roger Rabbit
17. The Transformers: The Movie (1986)
18. Rocky (1-4 & 6)
19. Rambo
20. Tron
I like movies :)

Que dozens of people bitching that there's no great modern movies because apparently the only films that exist are the ones in your local multiplex.

It's hard to pick really. Probably Annie Hall.
No one said there aren't good modern movies ( IE LOTR Trilogy, crossing fingers for Hobbit) But that is not what this thread is about.

Yeah, what proves it is still good, is that it is still scary to watch...... Take the Exorcist (supposedly the scariest movie of my parents generation) I first saw it in 1998 and I couldn't help but laugh at it.

The original Gone In 60 Seconds, (remake is an horrible plastic piece of garbage).
The Driver and Attack Of The Killer Tomatoes.
