Favorite Final Fantasy Game

So my topic is simple my dear Escapists. What is your favorite Final Fantasy game? Mine would have to be a split of VIII and X. The videos are awesome and there is something special in each of them. From the awesome music, to games within a game, and the summons along with videos. Pure awesomeness. So again "What is YOUR favorite Final Fantasy Game?

The only one I really played was FFVII... I played FFVIII until it stopped working, and FFVI until I got stuck...
I do like the look of the trailer for FFXIII Versus. but It's PS3 only (And I may have gotten the title incorrect).

X-2 was a painful cash in
XII to me felt more like a hack n slash gone wrong

9 simply because losing a character in that game is a real loss in your abilities.
Not like 7 or 8 where every character is the same, 10 where the voice acting made me want to kill myself or the extremely slow NES/SNES titles(they actually made 15 minutes feel like I played for an hour).

...Why has this thread been made, we had an identical one yesterday. And another one the week before this. Oh dear. Final fantasy favourite threads are now becoming more common place than zombie threads.
1000 posts, my grand, my big one, my big 1000 will be used up simply to ask why.

None the less, I'll answer the same as I always have.

FF II for the level up system.

FF V for the job system

FF VI for the story/characters.

FF IX for the story/characters.

FF X for the graphics.

I want to say XIII but I haven't played it yet. 76 days, 3 hours and 24 minutes until the western release, the wait is fucking killing me!

Until then, it's definitely FFX for the awesome story and characters.

XII - battle system and overall fun
VIII - most enjoyable mini game
IX - ability system

It's the only one I can say I've actually played all of and beat. Multiple times at that.

I've played 6 through 10 and 12. Each have their individual strengths so it's tough to pick a fave.

VI - Great characters and individual abilities made for more tactical battles
VII - Awesome story and character development. Simple, neat battle system. Materia worked a charm.
VIII - Weak story but the characters made up for it. I actually really enjoyed the junction system too. Best card minigame too.
IX - Individual abilities made battles more interesting, a nice trip back to the fantasy style of the SNES iterations
X - Epic story and characters. Graphics were a thing of utter beauty (but i'm trying to ignore this given the tech differences). Fantastic time killer minigame in blitzball and the ability to go far beyond the story with side quests - although doing this made the final boss a bit of a joke fight.
X-2 - The combat was actually quite good because it was made more dynamic, but the story, oh the story.
XII - Nope, i've got nothing here. The combat was awful, the summons were awful, the story was boring, the characters had almost no development. It's the only FF so far i didn't see through to the end, simply beause i couldn't bring myself to care.

Gun to my head i think i'd put a joint fave on VII and X but that really isn't saying much.

Let's see... This is a tricky one 'cos I've enjoyed all the different FF games I've played for different reasons (bar FFXII that I own a copy of but still haven't got into yet):
So, I love (in no particular order):
FFIII (DS): for the job system, story, music and pick-up-and-play-ability (and being the first game I ever completed start-to-finish which has subsiquently got me into gaming properly).
FFIV (DS): (I've nearly finished it) for the cut scenes, graphics, story and the challenge.
FFX-2: for the silliness and lighthearted tone (and job switching mid-battle which is ace).
FFXII - Revenent wings: for the easy but fun battle system and pretty graphics.

But what comes out on top has to be FFX. I love the story, the music, the charecters, the aeons, the scenery and in-game graphics, the cut scenes (hi and low res.), yes I even like the voice acting most of the time, the whole thing looks, sounds and plays wonderfully and is one of my all time favourite games.

FF7 remains my all time favorite and likley will probably down to nothing but nostalgia but the OST and artwork were always beautiful and no boss theme has yet to top sephiroths, FFX-2 purley for the battle system turn based in its perfect incarnation shame they ditched it round about 12. XII for the open world like gameplay and freedom this is what .hack should have been. IX for the characters and throwback to the classics of old.

I must've played though that game about 30 times now, of which the PSN release was the lastest.
I know, I know, it's silly. I just absolutely love the game mechanics, music, character development, everything.

Tactics gets an honorable mention for style, difficulty, story, and, well pretty much everything else except the translation (of the original).

I must agree. I would even go as far as saying it's my favourite Strategy-RPG.

I don't care what their japanese numbers were. American release > Any other release.
