We have a thread for the favorite alcoholic drinks of Escapists: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.83423?page=1

I wonder what are the food items you chow down on so that it's not only alcohol sloshing in your belly while drinking? Be it with friends and family during special occasions, or just by your lonesome, what do you eat while drinking?

Where I am, aside from mixed nuts, oysters are good picks. You bring it to boil lightly so that you can open them and eat the prize inside as is or dip it in vinegar first. However, the staple here is the Sizzling Sisig (pronounced "See-Sig"):
Goes great with pretty much anything, especially beer. As for the recipe, Wikipedia has you covered: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sisig

And yes, I performed a search first.

Probably Chinese or Indian food.

Or, as I found out last week, those Flump marshmallows and Flying Saucers sweets.

Usually just a sandwich or burger with fries on the side. From a real restaurant/bar, not fast food crap. I don't know why, that's just what I eat on the rare occasion that I indulge in heavy drinking.

Anything really, when it comes to food and drinking I'm fairly indriscriminate in what I like to eat, although if I'm in for a big session I like to at least have a proper meal in me, take the edge off the drinking a little.

I don't drink much, hardly at all. Which might have something to do with the fact that I was 15 when I had my first beer...

Anyway, I always liked the classic Aussie barbeque with my beer, it just works.

I haven't been drinking alcohol with food for long (that sounds bad, but I'm only 19-turning-20), but I find myself wanting salty things. Vegemite, nuts mostly, corn/rice chips.. But often I just want good fat potato chips with a nice mustard or mayo on the side.

Though salty seems to be losing to my cravings for spicy food. Mmm, Pipsqueak cider with a bowl of chili con carne.

The thought of sweet stuff with drinks churns my stomach a little, but that's probably because I generally drink sweet and/or dry booze.

Anything salty will help you drink longer. Because salt counters the dehydrating effect of alcohol somehwat.

Pizza, with beer.

Nuff said.
So true. I remember one time we wanted Dominos at 12.30am and they refused to deliver, so we had a cry called another Dominos and made them call the other place and deliver to us, our pizza, Chicken Kickers and Brownies :p

There's a belief here that eating sweets while drinking will get you drunk faster. I don't know how true that is.

Once me and my buds tried brandy with ice cream as the food. The ice cream lasted longer than the brandy. My friends are heavy drinkers.

That can't be true, salty foos would only dehydrate you further.

Meat pierogi, or with cherries and cream... GHAGGHHH!!! Chinese ones are also nice.

But if I had to eat anything while drinking (non-alcoholic, but let's apply this to Pepsi ;d) - Lasagne. You know, that awesome think Italians have. Or Zapiekanka - another Polish dish.

Yeah. If anything, you should eat moisty food. Alcohol dehydrates you, salt multiplies this effect.

It tastes good. And is cheap, about a $. But I prefer home-made, with buns, cheese, meat and other ingredientes put into an oven for half an hour. It's awesome.

...Gotta do them tomorrow or on Tuesday.

Salt makes your body store liquid. So it actually makes you have to piss less, wich is the number 1 cause of dehydration from alcohol. Why do you think beer nuts are called beer nuts?

Pizza... hell it goes with ANYTHING...

I guess also those Martini Olives... they're food but do they count since they're technically part of the drink?
