Paper Mario was mine. It was a game that I could play over and over again. It had a nice sense of charm, wit, and it was just plain fun.

Hmm, aged 5-10? Possibly Prince of Persia (the original DOS version). I was 10 when I played it, I guess. It was so awesome, quite a step up from other games of that time.

Then there was Hero's Quest, around the same era. My first RPG experience.

Oh! And Solomon's Key. Seemed so cunningly designed back in the day.

*Sob* I still have such fond memories of my first PC... I had to make do with it from the age of 8 to 16... cutting edge when we first bought it, I think you can imagine that it wasn't quite so cutting edge by the time we upgraded :p

Age 5-10? That would be 1982-87, and Atari sucked. I didn't get an NES until 1988, at which point my grades promptly went downhill.

But enough snark. As a child, I'd say Pac-Man in the arcade. As a bit older kid in the late 80s/early 90s, Phantasy Star II absolutely rocked my world...until Final Fantasy VI came out in 1994 (I was 17) and earned a place it still holds as my #1 console game of all-time (and #23 overall behind 22 PC games!)

First game I had? Super Mario 64, I think it was emulated on a PC though...
First game I really got into? A compilation disc called '100 Great Games' that lasted me four and a half years worth of gameplay back when I lived on a boat. I recently downloaded a Mac version for Exile 3...

Epic win game.
