I see all of these posts asking about what your favorite football team is, what your favorite appliance is, what your favorite city is, even just a favorite game in a specific genre. I haven't yet seen a post about your favorite game ever (if one exists, please link it).

So, fellow eScapists, what is a game that you've likely spent hours, days, or weeks on? What is a game that you've developed an unhealthy emotional attachment to? What is your all-time favorite game of any platform or genre and why?

I've played dozens, perhaps hundreds of games to the conclusion that Chrono Trigger is mine. I liken it to how Mr. Yahtzee described Silent Hill 2 as "that game I replay every now and again to remind myself that gaming is still worth defending." I've played through CT and all of it's remakes several times and still find it enjoyable. I've gotten every ending, of which there are many, and played New Game+ until my whole team was level 99. Still love the story, still love the music, and still love the art.

So, guys and gals: What is your favorite game?

I think mine has to be Final Fantasy 9. I just love it! Then my disks got busted and I was sad, but Sony putting it on the PS1 classics was a great move! I might even try using a different 4 characters next.

Either that, or Prototype. Playing Infamous has reminded me on how much I loved that game.

My personal favourite is Mass Effect 2. It just ticks all the right boxes for me.

UFO: Enemy Unknown (AKA X-Com: UFO Defense). Was there ever any doubt?

I must admit Sid Meier's Pirates! comes damn close, Planescape:Torment is still staggering in its story-telling, and I was unhealthily addicted to Civ II for a long time. However X-Com and by extension the Jagged Alliance series are my all time favorites.

It is a 2 way tie for me, between Jak 3 and Jak X. Holy crap, I think I currently have the oldest game on her.

Mine would probably Pokemon Silver. Because it's the one RPG that isn't at all frustrating for me, and every time I replay it I get totally addicted. Though the original Portal is up there too, because I think it's the closest thing gaming has ever made to an absolutely perfect beginning-to-end experience.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.

It compelled me to buy an Xbox despite not really wanting one. I have never since bought a system for access to only one game since. Luckily, Jade Empire and Fable were enjoyable too.

Three that come to mind, Age of Empires II Age of the kings. I played this game for a good 4 years. Even after Age of Empires III came out.

Recently would be Infamous series. I played the hell out of those games and as soon as I can find my charger I will play them some more.

Jedi Academy. Oh my god what a awesome game. I miss it so much. It was a simply awesome game.

Hmmmmm this is really hard for me to pick, but I guess I have to go with Kingdom Hearts. I've played it so many times through and beaten it on both normal and expert. As well as playing it on expert picking the weakest abilities and doing it at the lowest level possible. I've gone through and gotten the Ultima Keyblade on more than one occasion. I love the story and characters. Basically everything about it is perfect to me.

Assassin's Creed 2.

I love the story, I love the characters, I love the setting, I love the History, I love the environments, I love the mechanics, I love how the RPG elements are useful but never feel like they are getting in the way and slowing thins down. Not to mention I am yet to find anything in any game quite as satisfying, no matter how many times you repeat it, than falling several stories to the ground, only to break your fall at the last minute by skull-fucking two witless guards with your hidden blades.

I never call anything perfect, but for me AC2 just ticked so many boxes that I doubt it will be beaten, ever.

Nope! Beat you by... *checks* ten years! One of my runners up Pirates! was from 1987, thanks for playing though.
