Mass Effect 3 by a long shot.

Followed by Journey.

If you have a PS3, you owe it to yourself to download Journey. It's absolutely beautiful.

Can I count Skyrim since the PS3 update that made it actually playable came out this year? Haha

Though tbh so far my favourite is Starhawk... been playing the beta a lot and I think it's brilliant.

That and I started playing CoD: World at War again and I still think it's the best in the series by far.

Favourite games this year ..... in the third month of said year ..... *insert raised eyebrow here*.

My favourite game released so far this year is Kingdoms of Amalur - Reckoning.

I got that many games in the Steam Holiday sale that I've not really looked at getting any more - I've still got twelve that I haven't even tried yet.

Everything I have tried on my mates 360 or PS3 though has either been a total letdown or not different enough from their predecessor to warrant purchase. There have been a couple of recommendations in this thread I'll keep my eye on though - I've not played Catherine yet (as mentioned earlier, it's just come out in the UK) and Journey looks very interesting too (would have to borrow a PS3 for that though.)

I would have liked to say Soul Calibur V (I bought a PS1 for Soul Edge, a Dreamcast for Soul Calibur, Xbox for Soul Calibur2, a second PS2 for Soul Calibur 3 just after I'd sold my first one etc... I'm a big fan) but no Taki = no sale.

Really enjoying Catherine right now. My flatmate and I tried it on hard first time, 5 hours later we were still on the third level. Had to knock it down a difficulty to progress, been a while since that happened.
Mass Effect 3 is calling my name, though. Can't wait to get back to my flat to play it.

My most anticipated is definitely Dishonored. Prey 2 is also looking pretty spiffy, but Dishonored is by far the most fully-featured game that looks like it caters my taste.

Diablo 3(obviously).

Mass Effect 3(besides the ending of course).

The Witcher 2 Enhanced Edition(can't wait to replay the game with full detail since I bought new computer recently).

Guild Wars 2(will take a mini break from WoW,so to speak,to play this).

I guess you're referring to game that haven't came out yet.

For me, I don't have one.
I've still been trying to get through my November/December back-log. Not to mention all the Viva Pinata and Company of Heroes I've been playing.

EDIT:
Far Cry 3 is coming up soon isn't it?
I read Game Informer regularly and I spent a lot of time on here, but I can't think of anything.

ME3 so far.

From what I've played of Diablo 3, that's going to come damn close. And am really looking forward to Guild Wars 2 as well.

Is GTA5 coming this year? That will take some beating if it does.

Persona 4: The Golden

C'mon Sony, let's make it happen this year.

Other than that, Journey for now. (Haven't played ME3 yet, get off my back.)

Isn't it a little early for GotY threads? It's march for gods sake!
What would you expect from the Escapist. Would you expect them not to judge a game that hasent been released.

OT: I'll reserve my judgement until 31st of december

I noticed it a long time ago in a magazine somewhere (previewed). It looks like a lot of walking with not much else. So, seeing as you've played, really, what do you do in the game?
It's actually quite platformy, and if the idea of shredding down a sand dune, through a lost city, at sunset, tickles your fancy...

Seriously, it's worth getting. It doesn't last long, 2 hours tops, but you won't regret it.

Only major 2012 game I played so far was Mass Effect 3, which I enjoyed quite a bit I guess. Looking forward to BioShock Infinite, despite not being a huge fan of the series, whenever that comes out.

It's still way too early for GOTY threads though.

As I just got System Shock 2, I'm hoping that.
Aside from that... not a clue, actually. Mass effect 3?
Wait, just got System Shock 2 ? Is there a new release, maybe that works with vista and 7.
Sorry, but there was no release. I bought a second hand copy off Amazon. Took at bit of effort and some third-party programs to get it working, but I am using it on windows 7. There's a copy going for £20 on amazon.co.uk at the moment if you want, or download it (though I wouldn't recommend it). There's no way to buy it from the publisher now.

Katawa Shoujo.

The best game I've played so far this year. No game comes close when it came to inducing emotions as well as making me rethink the way I've lived my life. And yes, it's a game, no matter what anyone says.
