League of Extra Ordinary Gentlemen, although the movie didn't do a very competent job of bringing it to the silver screen.

At the risk of being seen to go along with the crowd, V for Vendetta. I actually preferred it to Watchmen, because V had all the badass of Rorschach, and on top of that was a very human, relatable character.

You know, apart from being a psychopathic anarchist terrorist.

I'd have to say Maus. Despite the genius of Moore, Gaiman, Ware and other great writers working in the medium, very few of them have exposed their personal tragedies to an audience in the same way Speigelman did.

I love Watchmen, Wanted, V for Vendetta, and Sin City. And also The Amory Wars, the saga of Coheed and Cambria. Good Apollo I'm Burning Star IV: From Fear through the Eyes of Madness was good, but the artwork didn't really fit with the story. Very cool to see the songs get translated to the page.

EDIT: I also loved the death of Superman, but I read that so long ago I don't remember the author or anything about it really. Just remember that Superman fought Doomsday and they both died, and I loved reading it.

Just read Batman: The Long Halloween by Jeph Loeb. Really, really good murder mystery with a minimum of superhero goofiness. Plus, it's got an awesome plot twist at the end that is totally surprising and yet totally believable.

Transmetropolitan by Warren Ellis is a wonderfully twisted series.
The Goon by Eric Powell
V for Vendetta, Watchmen, League of Extroardinary Gentlemen by Alan Moore
And the usual superheroes as well.
Anybody who loves dark humor and doesn't mind tons of vulgarity NEEDS to check out the Transmet. books. They are completely worth any trouble you encounter while trying to obtain them.

EDIT:
Sin City, 300, and both Batman futures by Frank Miller.
BLAME! by Tsutomi Nihei is pretty interesting.
I love your profile picture: "Do you really believe that?" "Well you gotta nuke something."

On Topic: V for Vendetta and Watchmen

I'm a big fan of the Sin City books.
I don't read many American comics. I read a lot of manga. One of my favorites is Hellsing. A lot of action and phenomenal art.
