Favorite hack-and-slash video game series?

I couldn't really think of enough examples to constitute a poll but whatevs.

God of War and Devil May Cry are the two major colosses fighting for the awesome title.

But Dante being the smug smart ass fuck he is, totally gets my approval over bamf spartan Kratos.

If you find it, get a game called Bladestorm for 360 and PS3, it's just like Dynasty Warriors (it's made by the same people) but it's in medieval Europe instead.

Devil May Cry and (if it counts) Shinobi. It was just one game, but I still liked it.

Dynasty Warriors since it's the definition of a hack and slash series. To be more specific I really love the Dynasty Warriors: Gundam series.

Good shout id forgotten about that. The only thing that annoyed me was the time constraints placed on you. I never had a problem with the save system everyone complained about either.

It would have just been nice to have the freedom to hack up zombies at your leisure.
