The fourth Doctor. I love Tom Baker's eccentrically whimsical approach to the character:

Matt Smith, I just love his attitude, and still keeps The Dr chirpy even with the drama, unlike Tennant who just turned it into "can the Dr fall in love?" blagh turned it into a soap almost.

Probably #10, David Tennant. He was the first actor I ever saw in the role so that might have something to do with it, but he of all the Doctors I've seen he seemed the most alive. Second would be Matt Smith, his take on the Doctor has certainly been interesting, although I didn't really like last season for dragging the Doctor through the mud, but that's hardly Smith's fault. I have only had limited exposure to the classic Doctors, thanks to Netflix Canada's extremely limited selection of Doctor Who episodes, but I can see why people like Tom Baker though.

This is a good question to weasels someone's age out of them. The most common answer to this question according to the multiple fan boards and the shows annual fan mag thing is a fight to the death between the fourth (Tom Baker) and the tenth (David Tennant). Now, the fourth guy was from the old series while the tenth is new series, so I had this theory that if some's fave was Tom they are likely an older geek while a David fan would be a younger one.

It wouldn't be an exact guess as it plays on people's taste (not to mention I have to factor in the fact that Tom and David aren't the only choices), but an eccentric old man with shifty eyes verses a thirty-something dork with hints of autism... yeah.

Course, to answer the question: the Doctor as portrayed by David Tennant. I found his character to be complicated yet relatable (and the fact that David Tennant is such an attractive looking dork doesn't hurt ;))

I've only seen the new series, so it goes 10-11-9, all very close. It's just slightly varying degrees of favorite.

David Tennant, followed by Matt Smith. Also rather fond of Tom Baker, but the newer episodes speak to me more than the old ones.

Possible spoilers for last season:

River Song. She's not the Doctor, but she is a Time Lord (at least in part). She's my favorite Doctor Who character in any case.
I have to be honest, I don't like one Doctor over another. I'm more focused on the stories than the Doctor in particular. I think my favorite individual stories come from Christopher Eccleston. Captain Jack (I love him and I love Torchwood). The only show to truly creep me out came with him too (that one with with the little kid in the gas mask). Others did creep me out, but that's the one that stuck out. Maybe because it was my first Doctor Who episode.
Each Doctor brings something different (and interesting) for me as well. So it's hard to pick. ^^

Hard to say. I'm more familiar with the new series, and I thought the 9th, 10th, and 11th Doctors were all good.

Doesn't mean I don't wanna watch the old series, though, I'm just lazy...

Haven't seen them all, but I really love the first one.
William Hartnell constantly gave the impression that he knew more then the people around him, because he did. He was a grumpy, arrogant, crotchety old man. But still a fun curious personable character.
The dialogue they introduced him with could be boiled down to: "Yes my phone booth is a time machine. Don't question me, you're an idiot."
He's the reason I want the 12th face to be an older man. Enough twenty-thirty somethings.

Second favorite? 9. He's a bad-ass.

I only just got into Dr. Who so my answer (for now anyway) is Sherbert Sheppleton (or Matt Smith as he's known outside of the world of pornography)

Sadly, I've really only been exposed to the new series. My roommate tells me that #4 was the best, but I can't speak from personal experience.

So, another 10 fan here. Don't get me wrong, Eccelston was a great introduction to the Doctor, and Smith has been absolutely fabulous in the role. But, there's something about Tennant that just made me fall in love with the show. Sure, he had his down moments, but all in all his Doctor has become one of my favorite characters of all time.

That really varies depending on who you're talking to. Some people think he's the 12th Doctor, others think he's 10 or 11 turned into a pony, and some say that he's just an unrelated Time Lord from the MLP universe. Obviously, he's nothing more than a background character in the show, but it's fun to pretend sometimes.
