I like the Arctic Monkeys, are they still around? The Kings of Leon seem pretty good as well.

I think most of the indy stuff that is frequently played in the clubs etc in my city is pretty decent, but I couldn't for the life of me tell you who any of the bands were.

All sounds the same to me, kids these days with their new fangled music...

Do the Pixies count as indie rock? They're one of my favourite bands, full stop. Nirvana, for instance, pretty much acknowledged that they ripped off their characteristic style, especially with Smells Like Teen Spirit.

I'm also a fan of the Arctic Monkeys and Hard-Fi, and I'd probably get more exposure to it if I decided to listen to the radio more often - the station that I'd choose would have a lot of indie stuff on it.
The Pixies are KIND OF not Indie, mostly because they fit more firmly into Punk or Proto-Grunge and don't really conform to some of the very loose Genre conventions of Indie. That said, I fucking love The Pixies.

Well Dr.Dog, if you liked Bob Dylan and the Beatles, you will probably describe this as SOLID GOLD.

I liked
-Maritime
-We are Scientist

etc, etc

If you have a torrent downloader, you can download an indie/rock playlist on isohunt. They have a new playlist each month with 120 songs each. (Worth downloading, you can find some new bands).

I'm a big fan of most music genres, including deathcore, metal, hip hop, folk, hardcore punk, electronica, whatever. So, naturally I love indie pop and rock. I've actually performed with one of my state's more popular indie pop/rock acts on stage (rapping no less, heh) so here's my list:

All Get Out (local)
Hello Tomorrow (local who I played with)
Weezer (best in the bizz)
The Moldy Peaches (though they are kinda folkish)
Gorillaz (if they count)
The Shins (sometimes)
Breathe Carolina (sometimes)
FLOW (from Japan)
Jason Castro
Emanuel
All Time Low
The Pillows (from Japan)
BECK!!!! (one of our generations greatest musicians).

Sufjan Stevens is my favorite by far, but also Regina Spektor, Joanna Newsom, Ingrid Michaelson, Kate Nash, Black Kids, Explosions in the Sky and Sigur Ros.

Now that's indie-pop

The Cool Kids if you've heard of them are the closest thing I've heard to Indie Pop/Hip Hop. Goooood music, great beats, and a nice, retro eighties style. The same goes for Hyper Crush, though they add a good dose of electro.

A friend of mine introduced me to the music of The Dresden Dolls and Mika, I absolutely love them both.
