After going through this thread http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.381367-Fictional-deaths-that-hit-you-the-hardest I thought I'd start one on people's favorite last words from any character or real life person. For fictional characters, this may spoil the event from more recent works, so fair warning.

"Had to be me. Someone else might have gotten it wrong." - Mordin Solus

"Now, now, my good man, this is no time for making enemies." Voltaire, when asked by a priest to renounce Satan.

John Sedgwick, and his last words were actually something along the lines of "well then carry on my good man."

IIRC the entire exchange went:
"Why are you men dodging they couldn't hit an elephant at this distance."
"All the same sir I prefer to dodge."
"Well then carry on my good man."

yeah, Sedgwick wasn't killed mid-sentence.

OT:
"I'm cold... I'm Cold." -Snowden

"Very well, Let the sword take my life! So that the sight of a knight who does not fear death may forever be burned into your minds!" -Eltoshan

"A man chooses... a slave obeys." -Andrew Ryan

"Say 'Auf Wiedersehen' to your Nazi Balls!"- Stiglitz

I can only think of one:

"When it goes off, I'll be fine. It only affects computers, remember? And I... am a motherfucking ghost."

"Is this what it feels like to be mortal?"
Random night elf NPC who's name I forgot, cataclysm'd Darkshore.

And no, it's not really a spoiler, now is it.

Not really a favorite, but it's what I can think of right now.

Karl 12th, King of Sweden

From what I've understood, it was during a trench warfight, and he decided to stick his head up from the trench, and when someone warned him, he said:

"Do not be afraid" *Bullet to the head*

I'll never forget my friends last words...

"Oh fuck, a bus".

Now seriously...

My wallpaper and I are fighting a duel to the death. One or the other of us has to go.

When asked by the executioner if he had any last words, Panzram barked, "Yes, hurry it up, you Hoosier bastard! I could kill ten men while you're fooling around!
I think there's a cracked article with a few really good ones, but this is my absolute favourite of all time. I have no idea what my last words will be, but I hope they're half as good as that.

AFAIK, it was Norwegian grapeshot, and the shot that hit him smack in the side of the head was a through and through...

OT: Benjamin Franklin has some of the best quotes...

"A dying man can do nothing easily." - in response to the suggestion that if he rest on his side he might breathe more easily.

Can I go with something that isn't actually the last words of the person dying?

As I mentioned in the 'deaths that hit you the hardest' thread, Shirley really got me. However, what added to it was Lelouch's 'I ORDER YOU TO LIVE', which really smacked it right home when she couldn't.

As for actual last words:

L realising that he wasn't wrong is kind of touching. Light screaming that he doesn't want to die is... powerful, cos a surprising amount of people just accept it. Admittedly fictional characters often need to appear badass, but it's rare to get someone actually go out screaming.

Oh, and I remember reading in English Language about a parrot that apparently learned the English language to an extent an animal never had before, and it said 'Goodbye. See you tomorrow. I love you,' to its handler one night, and was found dead in the morning.

Higurashi No Naku Kuro Ni Kai.

I believe it's the end of the second arc, spoilerboxkthx

I can't remember the exact words but after almost defeating the terrible cycle of insanity and death (by painstakingly addressing and putting to rest all the previous insanity arcs) the entire cast gets coldly gunned down by the mastermind behind the whole scheme.

The last surviving member just states that she now knows who the real villian is and that she will certainly commit this fact to memory in order to finally achieve victory in the next and hopefully last cycle. She is promptly shot in the face.

Pretty emotional to be honest

Oh and I can't stand Irelia's death scream in League of Legends. Not as bad as Sona's wordless death cry( I actually can't play Sona much now because I hate seeing her die too much.) But pretty heartwrenching all the same. She gets impaled by her own blades, not even in the hilarious Tryndamere death way where he just throws his sword into the air and it impales him straight through the chest, that's just funny.

Good thing that once I have my Merc Treads, Triforce, Force of Nature built up I am never going to die ever again. That's right pesky AD Carry. Get focused by the offtank *****!

Also Code Geass R2. You fucking know what i'm talking about. Y'know, the oranges? The bullshit two word twist at the end that spawned so much debate amongst fans? Yeah that stuff.

'S good.

Mass Effect 3
"Had to be me. Someone else might have gotten it wrong." Mordin

"Hey guys, watch THIS!" -Every firework accident victim in history.

Final Fantasy 6/ Dissidia (it appears in both games, though the exact order of the rant is different in each one)

"Life...hope...dreams...where do they come from? And where do they go? None of that junk is enough to fulfill your lives! Why do you create when time will inevitably destroy what you build? Why do people cling to life when they know that they have to die? None of it will have meant anything once you do!" Kefka

"I got no fucking problem saying this shit to you in local. I'm gonna find out where you faggots live and come over there and fucking murder you. Your [sic] nothing but a bunch of retard carebears* who only fucking win because you've got 50 of your friends backing you up. You guys are a bunch of cheap-ass fags and I don't give a shit if CCP bans me for saying this becuase [sic] everyone needed to hear it said."

One of my corp's many roam victims, shortly before being handed a month long ban from CCP for a third bad language offense.

*carebear: a player who is inept at pvp or one who spends most of his or her time in non-pvp activities. Carebears are not people. They are spaceborne pinatas.

My favorite is, of course, apocryphal but I love the supposed last words of Pancho Villa "Don't let it end like this. Tell them I said something."

Second favorite would be Breaker Morant in front of a firing squad "Shoot straight you bastards, don't make a mess of it!"

Third would be the last words of gangster Dutch Schultz dying of a gutshot while on a morphine drip "Hey, Jimmie! The Chimney Sweeps. Talk to the Sword. Shut up, you got a big mouth! Please come help me up, Henny. Max come over here. French Canadian bean soup. I want to pay. Let them leave me alone."

John Adams: "Thomas Jefferson still survives." He was unaware that Thomas Jefferson died earlier that day.

George Appel: "Well, Gentlemen, you are about to see a baked Appel." Right before he was executed on the electric chair.

J.M. Barrie: "I can't sleep."

Ludwig van Beethoven: "Applaud, my friends, the comedy is finished."

Captcha: Look before crossing. I find that fitting for the topic.
