I think my favorite is a tossup between Cell and Buu. Well, the bits of them either way. I know they're technically in chunks like 'Android Saga', etc but I just refer to the whole things by the main villain so yeah.

Anyway the Cell Saga really got going for me when... well, Cell showed up. He was cool as hell and terrifying the way he just ate people! And the way he just grew and grew was awesome, deffo my favorite DBZ villain.

Buu saga had a really really slow start, with Gohan in high school and all that crap. But when Majin Vegeta showed up things started to get really REALLY good. A lot of people hate on the Buu saga, and idk why I thought it was awesome, so many good fights especially Super Buu and Majin Vegeta. Also the filler with Goku fighting Pikkon was AMAZING.

Least favorite... Garlick Jr, or most of the Frieza saga, I found Namek to be pretty boring, until the Ginyu Force and Frieza shows up. The parts where they're just going around looking for the Dragon Balls got a bit boring.

My favorite was the Cell Saga. Introduced female fighters finally, even if 18 started out as a villain and then got stomped. It was also nice to see all of the Z fighters come back and have that brawl with the mini Cells. Good balance of action and story, with none of the dragged out, hold-your-hands-in-the-air-for-a-whole-episode stuff that Frieza had.

My least favorite was the Buu saga. It was basically just Cell all over again (regen powers) but with even more super powers added on top. Plus power levels started to get ridiculous. I remember the first time Goku went Super Saiyan. I was so excited. And then Vegeta went Super Saiyan and I was even more excited. This was totally awesome. And then Trunks showed up and he had a sword.
And then the show proved that being a Super Saiyan didn't mean you couldn't be beat. The Androids stomped them and I loved it, because it meant that they had to come up with something new. And when they did, the idea of going beyond a Super Saiyan was so new and fresh that it was cool.

And then Buu came around and everyone and their dog was going Super Saiyan and there were suddenly three or four more levels above that and it just felt like a waste of time. None of it was special anymore, none of it was exciting. It was all just the same, "Increase power level and slap a new number on it" story and I lost interest.

The Buu saga would be my least favourite. The mr Sayaman sublplot was just awful and even when the action started up, the story was just a mess. Honestly, finding out that even the super-ultimate-final-God (supreme Kai) of the dragonball universe was nothing compared to Goku made the whole thing seem stupid. Well stupider anyway. "Hi, I rule the afterlife itself, but I find myself weaker than a spikey-haired-manchild"

Loved the Frieza saga the best since it featured Vegeta at his most brutally evil, yet still had you rooting for him. I still can't believe they showed him stomping on a guy's throat. Also it had an alien with an Australian accent for no reason at all.

The Frieza Saga has the Ginyu Force, in all their incarnations (except for Kai, fuck they ruined Recoome's voice in that dub). Greatest super sentai team ever.

Man, though question.

I think all the (non-filler) sagas have some really great moments.

Goku coming back and getting shit done in the Saiyan saga, or Goku coming back to get shit done in the Freeza saga, or Goku coming back to get shit done in the Cell saga..

Hmm, I see a pattern.

I think the Cell saga had some of the coolest moments. Tien tri-beaming Cell into the ground, Super Piccolo, Mr Satan, the hyperbolic time chamber, and SS2 Gohan was just awesome.

I actually like the Garlic Jr saga as its the first and only one which shows Goku not saving the day in anyway and it shows the potential of Gohan who even when the chips are down keeps fighting and eventually puts down the DBZ saga's (not movies) only immortal enemy

Least favourite was Buu, I liked bringing Goku back but the plan was for Gohan to fully unlock his power and to then defeat Buu and take over the mantle from his Dad as protector of earth but sadly Akira didn't like this plan and it was changed to have Gohan defeated and Goku to make the save at the end with the bullshit spirit bomb

Cell Saga is my favorite, Buu Saga is my least favorite.

Cell Saga introduced an intimidating, ever-changing villain that actually made progress and offered a real threat to the Z fighters (in my opinion, though Frieza was pretty intimidating too).

Buu Saga is when the show slowed down and began to drag like crazy. The worst part was that small, important details were sprinkled into the useless episodes, so it's really hard to shorten/abridge the season. The villain also fluctuated between intimidating and stupid.

My favorite would be Cell saga by far. Androids 17 and 18 absolutely curbstomping the Z Fighters was an excellent move. It actually added tension to the plot which had been missing for quite a bit. They felt intimidating, they felt daunting. The buildup to Cell was great, the mystery into this other thing going on that may be worse than 17 and 18. Cells evolutions actually made sense. His powerups were him achieving the next stage of his lifecycle, building on the whole bug-like motif. His growth had narrative purpose, unlike say Frieza or Buu who grew stronger as a response to other characters getting too strong. Cell's growth was part of the story, him growing to his ultimate form, not to mention the change in his personality along the way. Upon achieving his ultimate form he seemed almost zen-like (at first). Seeing Goku and Gohan train as a father-son duo for the Cell Games was rather touching, as Gohan had mostly been trained by Piccolo up to this point. It was nice to see Goku actually help train his own son. Gave their relationship weight which had been missing for a large part of the show (what with Goku being dead or out of commission for large chunks of the story up until this point).

As for the worst, it would be the Buu saga. It overstayed it's welcome, it was far too reliant on power-ups, Buu as a character was not very interesting (as opposed to Cell and the Androids who were all throwbacks to the original Dragonball), the buildup to the whole thing was rather boring, The stakes were ridiculous and all over the place, far too much Mr. Satan (I'm fine with him in small doses, not the amount they gave him for this), and the ending was just silly (imho). Really I would have been happy if DBZ ended with Cell saga. I really appreciated that Cell was practically the only major villain that Goku didn't directly defeat. Yes Piccolo defeated Raditz but he wasn't around that long and wasn't that important to the story. Goku beat Vegeta when he showed up. Goku beat Frieza. Goku beat Buu. But Cell was defeated by Gohan. Goku may have died at the end of Cell saga (again) but Gohan had surpassed Goku by this point. Goku's legacy would live on even if he didn't.

Favorite for me was the Buu saga, in no small part due to super Buu's AMAZING theme music. Majin Vegeta vs Goku, Mystic Gohan vs Super Buu and Vegito vs Gohan Buu were tons of fun for me. I'll admit the start of the saga and the very end with the spirit bomb were pretty meh, but the middle was a lot of fun. Also not a huge fan of Gotenks.

Least favorite was hands down the Garlic Jr. Saga. I don't have much to say about it. It didn't take full advantage of the cast. Piccolo was pretty badass in it but everyone else seemed annoying and the whole Kami and Popo part I found mostly boring and even the laughs it went for missed a lot for me.

C'mon people. Buu's theme was GREAT.

I really dig the Namek saga. Mainly due to the whole exploring a new planet aspect. Least favourite? Probably Frieza (assuming that's considered separate from the Namek Saga). That fight just went on way too long. No one saga really stands out as being really spectacular for me though. It all felt very formulaic after a while. Favourite/least favourite Dragonball saga would be a much more interesting conversation, probably with far less participants though.

Finally someone who agrees, I really liked Buu saga apart from a few minor details here and there. Super Buu's theme was awesome too, as was this one when Gohan goes to fight him:
I think my favorite overall DBZ theme is the Imperfect Cell theme, though.
AAARGH DBZ JUST HAS AWESOME MUSIC. WHY COULDN'T KAI KEEP THE FAULCONER OST!? IF THEY USED IT I WOULD DIE OF HAPPINESS

My favourite was the Cell Saga.

Mostly for awesome Gohan, 8-9 year old me had a little bit of a crush on Gohan during the Cell Games.

As for least favourite, I'm not really sure, I stopped watching pretty shortly after the Cell saga. I only stayed long enough to realise that they ruined Gohan. I can't think of anything before the Cell Sage that I particularly disliked.

Majin Vegeta was the best part of DBZ ever. I wish they?d have stretched out that part and taken longer before Buu came into the picture. Less of the fat Buu time would have also been better.

My least favourite part was the beginning of the android saga when they were waiting around for Goku and dealing with 19 and 20. Though Gohan' schooling adventures in the Buu Saga are a very close second.

It's either the Cell saga or the Frieza saga. I think the Cell saga is better overall but the Frieza saga has those hunks of manliness that is the Ginyu Force.

My least could be the Frieza saga. The fight with Frieza and Goku did get very tideous but in saying so this was before I came to know about the concep of "filler".

I guess my favourite could be Cell saga and he was presented quite well as in he was scary (when he appear in Ginger town) and a new threat.
