I'm nearing the end of the notorious Game Grumps Sonic 06' LP series

and I thought it would be neat to hear about everybody's favorite LP series'/videos.

My personal favorite is Yahtzee's play through of Manhunter: New York.

I really liked how even though you'd think that Yahtzee would just randomly curse and mumble over the game, he actually ends up providing insight on some of the unknown aspects of the devs and stuff like that. Also, there are some really good jokes in there.

Basically anything by Chip Cheezum and General Ironicus. If I had to pick a specific game they've done, probably 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand [http://chipandironicus.com/videos/50cent/], which is actually the first one I ever watched and I was pointed to it by a plug that Yahtzee did in an Extra Punctuation column, if memory serves.

They generally dub commentary over previously recorded/edited gamplay, but I believe their No More Heroes LP was live-commentated.

I actually have to catch up on the ones Yahtzee has done in the last few months.

Yahtzee and Chip and generally pretty great.
Jefmajor just started doing DF: Adventure mode again so that's good fun. Also been liking Northernlion too.

You're not - they just finished the Sonic campaign and are two videos in the Shadow one. There is still the Sliver campaign to be tackled afterwards xD

I am watching their Banjo Kazooie [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sHKTwwkYol8&list=PLRQGRBgN_EnryITceukATlpv6OPkosGdP] LP right now, too - it's pretty good.

Also, the Graham and Paul LPs [http://loadingreadyrun.com/videos/archive/gplp/date/desc/_] are quite entertaining. Here is a highlight from the most recent episodes

Graham and Paul from Loading Ready Run are also making Let's Plays. They're called Graham and Paul Let's Plays, or GPLPs. They're currently doing Cursed Crusade which is an awful game. But it, like the Dante's Inferno Let's Play, both feature their friend Brad Krikland. Brad provides very interesting insight to various aspects involved in the game. For Dante's Inferno he provides comparisons to the book (it's actually surprisingly accurate in many ways). For Cursed Crusade he provides commentary on the time period it takes place in. I'd highly recommend them.

They can be found here. [http://loadingreadyrun.com/videos/archive/gplp/date/desc]

EDIT: DoPo seems to have ninja'd me. How dare he? Now I have to fight for my honor like Taco September, known for his legendary strength.

Challenge accepted, hombre :p

I think by far, I'm enjoying the Cursed Crusade the most - it has that mix of being broken in parts, having terrible writing and dialogue in others, and having Brad there - I like Brad. He makes history fun. He proves remarkably insightful, too

I'm still making my way through Desert Bus 6--that counts, right?
I want to watch more Graham and Paul, along with more Yahtzee and friends, but I don't always remember.
My favorites by far though are Two Best Friends Play (of course) and The Spoiler Warning Show.
Spoiler Warning is a lot more informative and discussion driven.
TBFP is a lot funnier. I think I've started playing co-op games like them; by just messing around and cracking jokes about what's going on.

I honestly prefered Dante's Inferno. At least Dante's Inferno was pretty well made, if bad. And the challenges were a bit more goofy then just beating a lot of guys up. Or at least they were until the challenge rings thing. Those were awful.

That said I do think Cursed Crusade is very entertaining. I'm also glad they got the new equipment since I can now actually hear what they're saying. The main problem I have with CC is that it's almost too bad. It wasn't until they started playing again. But now it's just seem to have gotten glitchy and even worse. Like that 300 'joke.' Just... *shudder* But their reaction made it worth it barely.

Cursed Crusade does have the history aspect too though now that I think about it. That is more interesting to me then comparing it with the Dante's Inferno book. But in Dante's Inferno we learned that people could normally double jup back in that time period. So that's history!

Yeah, I agree with you there - CC is just worse than Dante's Inferno, but I like that. I like watching terrible games, especially if the let's players take the piss out of them.

But no - in Dante's Inferno, people couldn't double jump - that was just Dante. Who went to the crusades. And single handedly defeated death. It was in the book, too, otherwise why would they put it in the game? :D

EDIT: I just remembered I have a thread with LP suggestions bookmarked - here it is [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.377714-Need-more-LPs-to-watch].

Yea, it is just flat out worse. But in cases like CC, it gets to the point where the players just seem to be pushing forward regardless and becomes less fun. I kind of felt that was happening near the end of X-Men. Though that was short enough that it didn't get to the point of just being dull. CC has the advantage of Brad. And Brad is always an advantage.

Of course it was in the book. Brad said everything that happened in the game happened in the book too. Including frustrating ring of hell involving challenges. For that is truly one of the worse rings to be stuck in.

Spoony's Phantasmagoria 2 LP, hands down.

One of the few LPs I can re-watch without getting bored.

Chip and Ironicus are the best in terms of polish and professionalism, and their comedy is awesome, too.

Slowbeef and Diabetus are...well basically the creators of VLPs and still hilarious (retsupurae).

Helloitsdan and Lithuaniandad also deserve mention, though they've only done Lost Planet 2 and the amazing Mercs 2.

PsychedelicEyeball is arguably the best solo LPer....just watch his Super Meatboy videos.

If anything, just head over to the lp archive and check there.

It might be because he's playing through Tales of games, but I like these Let's plays.

Edit: I also enjoy the ones Yahtzee do, partly because some of those games don't make sense at all.

What - no mention of pyschadelicsnake [http://www.youtube.com/user/pyschadelicsnake] yet? EVERYTHING he does is comedy gold!

If I had to choose just one, though, I'd pick his take on the Project Zero (AKA Fatal Frame) [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rUGtDd4Ini4&list=PLB4025A570D885BFD] - series.

Honorable mention to Game Grumps and their self-abusive trek through Sonic '06. I did hear that the game was bad, but I had no idea what the fuss was about until I saw those two brave men going up against Silver - or more accurately, fighting the horrendous controls while Silver takes the occasional potshot.

And it actually looks like they're aiming to play the whole damn thing. Respect.
