My scene is the Bridge Of Kazad Dum, and the bit before it.
They're running through the halls being chased by Goblins, and suddenly there's this massive roar and everyone's all like O____O Then Gandalf is like GTFO! So they all run out onto the bridge while the epic music plays while arrows fly at them, and suddenly CRASH The Balrog bursts through, and they are all like AW SHIT! But then Gandalf turns round like a boss and takes him down, but then he gets dragged down and they all cry.
That scene's iconic yes, but I like when in TTT we see it again from Gandalf's perspective and discover that what we thought was a tragic death scene was actually just the lead in the most insanely baddass duel OF ALL TIME. Gandalf fighting the Balrog with a sword in mid air while the two plummet down an enormous chasm dark chasm.

Technically this is also the only battle between 2 Maiar that isn't two old guys shouting "YAaa!" at each other.
How did they end up on top of a mountain at the end though?

Basically everything Bernard Hill said when he was around a battle. Seriously, that guy is just so damn awesome as Theodén.

But the most awesome is this scene:
The music that kicks in around 1:15 is just amazing, and coupled with the fact that the ents' sad fate and this is their last march just gives me goosebumps every time.
Especially this one.

From when they enter the Mines of Moria to when they leave. I know they're loads of individual scenes but they're all awesome.

There is a staircase starting at the roots of Moria that winds all the way up to a tower at the top.

Yes, really.

Pretty much every scene that involves Gimli and Legolas competing for kills.

Also Borimir's death, not because I didn't like him, but because he went out like such a bad-ass.

Return of the King Extended Version's scene where Aragorn meets the Mouth of Sauron.

I'll finish by mentioning that I recently discovered that I now hate these movies. I watched all three of them recently and I guess I hit the point where all the small things that bug me about them have all teamed up to be the only things I see in the entire time I spend watching them.

Boromir's death scene is probably my favorite. I tear up every time.

Also, the "you bow to no one" scene.

And the epic charge of the Rohirrim make when they initially get to Minas Tirith. Plus the King's speech right before it.

Well, I do enjoy several scenes, mostly the battle scenes like at the end of the Fellowship, the Warg Riders, Helm's Deep, and especially when the Ents attack Isengard battle in Two Towers, The Battle of Osgiliath, Theoden's speech before the Rohirrim's charge, the Oliphaunt attack, pretty much the entire Pelennor Fields battle, and lastly Aragorn's speech at the end.
But I have to say I really wish they could have included the Scouring of the Shire chapter from the book into the Return of the King, I really wanted to see how it would have looked.

PJ's decision to play soft instead of intense with the music and cinematography was inspired.
Also, using the sunrise as a weapon is both beautiful poetry and an incredible example of Gandalf's expertise in natural magic.

There are so many!

But I will choose the ending of Return of the King. Some people don't like it, but I love the fact that it's like three endings in one. It's like a really long epic epilogue for an epic trilogy. I usually dislike endings that are short and make you feel like it was a half-baked conclusion.

I'd love to see more proper endings like this one in movies, TV series and games!

when the hobbits return to the shire and fight the ruffian... oh wait. um...
Removing The Scouring of the Shire from the movie was the biggest disappointment for me. They claimed it was "anti-climactic"
wait they actually said it was "anti-climactic"? really?

climax - the highest or most intense point in the development or resolution of something; culmination

so not only has Peter Jackson never read the books, he has also never seen a dictionary. how did the board meeting on the decision to take this out go?

Guy - "okay, and then there is this part that ends the story and ties up all the loose ends."
Peter - "yea, we don't need that part, its boring"
Guy - "but it has a big battle, and saruman!"
Peter - "yea but it will take to long"
Guy - "take to long? The movie is 4 hours already!!"
Peter - "just skip to the part with the boat"
Guy - "But no one will understand the boat scene because you skipped all the parts that had anything to do with it!"
Peter - "Who's the director here? go get me coffee."
Guy - "UGH! George Lucas never listened to me either!"
they also thought Gollum slipping and falling into Mount Doom was anti-climactic, which is why they had Frodo fight him for the ring and then fall.

Personally I thought the Ghost Army was anti-climactic, it was certainly the worst change they did. Having any army of Ghosts who can't be harmed but can cause harm rush in at the end and kill the enemy not only takes all of the tension out of the fight but also completely destroys the sacrifice of all those soldiers who died in the fight earlier.
