Mordin. He probably contributed more to do mission than anyone else just by making the counter-measure. Plus everything he says or does is either hilarious or awesome.

Closely followed by Legion.

This is going to turn into a Tali love-in but I'm going to say Mordin, any character who can sing a revamped Gilbert and Sullivan to me gets my vote!
Am I the only one who hates Tali?
I don't hate Tali but I don't understand all the love she gets. In ME1 I disliked only Kaidan more than her and in ME2 she was very forgettable.

100% Thane. I used him on every mission (until he died because i forgot to upgrade my ship). 2nd would be Garrus. 3rd, probably Legion.

Wrex. Why? Because he's a fucking Space Dinosaur.
Seriously. There is no way I could ever hate him. And Grunt continued the awesome legacy that Wrex had started.
It's a rare thing when I don't have a Krogan on my mission team.

Another good thing about having a Krogan on the team is that they make great tanks with thier high health.

Poor old Miranda, Jacob and Jack get killed half the time but Grunt is always there, smashing heads in with the butt of his shotgun...

Does anyone actually like Jacob?

I find him second only to Kaidan in the 'most boring companion' competition.

In my first play through I used Tali because I wanted to see what was under her mask in the love plot, was not aware you couldn't bang her.
Wrex is cool and all, saved him every play through, but Garrus was underused by me.

Garrus
Tali
Wrex

Exactly!
I never have to worry about him!
Anyone else, I have to keep tabs on, but with him...I can just focus on the people in front of me and be comfortable knowing he'll kick seven and a half shades of shit out of everything else.

As for Jacob...meh.
That's the most I can muster for him.
He's the default female romance option, I guess.

Garrus. He's a total badass. He survived a head-on attack from three mercenary groups for days by himself, he's not afraid to take the law into his own hands, and he has a massive facial scar. I always scream his name whe- uh, I mean... he falls in battle. Yeah, manly battles with guns and explosions. That's it.

Wrex was my favourite in the original Mass Effect though. It pisses me off that the default Mass Effect 2 storyline is that he dies on Virmire. Fuck that, man.

Yeah, he really is that boring. I like Miranda though. Her side mission was kinda touching.

Grunt looks badass when you unlock the second outfit for him too. That's one hell of a character model!

I liked Miranda, because she had a skill branch that improved MY stats, and being as I'm not much of a team player, that was most beneficial to me.

Unless we're talking purely about personalities. Then I would have to go with Garrus. He's laid back, and I really like the "old buddy" relationship he has with Shepard that makes him respect you, but still talk to you as more of a friend than a teammate.

Also he's probably the furthest personality wise from Mordin. Every time Mordin spoke I instinctively started looking for a renegade interrupt to pop up. I actually engineered my final mission so that Mordin would die. He didn't. I was disappoint.

And fun. I like killing smug Asari biotics.
:-D
Though the second time I played Jacob's mission, I was going Renegade, and got a more fun ending.

Yes it is! The bony forehead...the scaly face and arms...and the thing that looks like a damn turbine in his armor.
All incredibly sweet.

Kaidan was my fave ME1 character and I love him, I think male gamers just hate him for no good reason tbh (this is the feeling I get reading escapist posts, anyway) I found him very useful (he owns Saren the final fight) and mourn not having him in ME2 Jacob is a pale shadow of Kaidan, they are trying too hard to make him smooth but instead he just comes across cocky and disinterested, Bioware dropped the ball with his personality (Kaidan was effortlessly likeable, speaking as a female gamer) and I am thinking my paramour achievement is gonna come from Thane who is far superior as a character.
My favourite ME2 character is Zaeed, the dude is a dude! Jack's pretty cool too.

Tali and Mordin. Tali's just awesome and Mordin sang Gilbert and Sullivan. Mordin's easily one of the funniest characters in the game. Deep too. They definitely didn't downplay his morality because of his intelligence.

Garrus is my favorite. He's a badass and his thoughts often echo my own. I quite enjoyed how he conducted himself on his loyalty mission in ME2.

The other member of my 'away team' is Jack. I'm still undecided on Jack. She runs all the plays in the angry sociopath playbook but she is kinda fun. I hate that ugly looking harness thing they use to cover up her boobs though. I was pleased to find I could put a shirt on her after her loyalty mission, but the stupid harness is still there, mocking me. There must be a less stupid looking way to hide her nipples from the poor impressionable youth. Or you know, just man up leave her topless like you designed her.

Was anyone else a little disappointed by Grunt? Maybe I didn't give him enough of a chance but he just seemed like he could have been any random Krogan to me, besides the "I was grown in a tank, it sucked" stuff.

"I like to kill things Shepard."
"Everyone is weak compared to Krogan Shepard."
"I'll kill any of your crew that gets in my way Shepard"

I don't know what I wanted from him, but it wasn't the same thing I'd heard from every other Krogan I ran into. I haven't finished the final mission yet though, maybe he gets more interesting? I do like his character design though. He looks cool.

Also, did you know Zaeed is voiced by Robin Sachs, who played Ethan Rayne on Buffy The Vampire Slayer? Trivia is fun.
