I've yet to play ME2 yet......... hopefully tomorrow!!!!!!!!!

But, in ME1- my 2 favourites (its hard to pick JUST 1.. they all had good parts to 'em {AMAZING writing on that part})
I'd say Wrex- Just damn badass, loads of awesome stories, great voice acting
Garrus- "renegade", he hates beaurocracy, likes to have power/respect, knows what it takes to get the job done and therefore is cool, brutal, deadly and just smooth.

Now, on the opposing side- members I didn't like (main reasons):

Ashley- typical red-neck American *****. Racist, gun-heavy, dumb, religious (nothing against religion), and just REALLY boring...
Kaiden- nothing much bad against him. He was nice.. just seemed.. dunno, a bit gay.. not THAT interested.
Liara- immature/young (reasonable), a bit annoying, somewhat easy to get into bed, obsessed.. (albeit, I did do her)
Tali- Meh, boring, annoying, robotic, pretty dumb, too technological.

Remember, I do like (love all but the humans) all the characters- but these are my main arguments against why the others aren't my favourites.

And from what I've seen on ME2, Thane and Mordin look pretty sick. We'll see when I play.
Miranda sexy and all, and pretty badass with a gun.. what's she like overall? Would be nice to have an interesting human on the team for a change.. (and a hot one at that).

Also- if I romanced someone in ME1, am I stuck with her (Liara) in ME2, or can I cheat/break it up with her and go for, say Miranda??? Thanks.
I hope you actually thought he was homosexual and are not using gay as a derrogative term. I know you're new but we don't take too kindly to that around here.
wow, sorry.. nothing derogative intended..thought in today's society one could use the term "gay" without getting shot down. I thought wrong. I have nothing against gays. My best friend is gay. I have several gay friends. And no offence, but as I said I'm not using the term "gay" derrogatively, then I have no reason why I shouldn't use it. It's fewer letters to type.

But anyway, I guess gay/homosexual was the wrong word. IMO Kaiden was just a bit too nice, too, well not sure really a good adjective to use is, but.. he seemed weak. Never seemed to me to be 100% loyal to the mission/me, or agreed with what we were doing- be it my renegade OR paragon choices.. so after a few missions I ditched him and his bitching remarks about what I did. if he can't handle the hard and/or dirty work, he can get the hell off my team for all I care :)

(plus I was an adept, and always felt threatened around other biotics.. stealing my glory :p jokes)

Again, apologies for any "gay" offences I have caused.. nothing intended or meant in a bad way. I even thought I WAS gay for a while.. so please forgive me.
Don't worry about it, I'm a forgiving person, but others my take offence and report you, and that would be a shame because you obviously look like you want to contribute to intelligent conversation.
Well, thanks for the warning. In the future I'll think more carefully about my wording.

Garrus and [very mild spoilers ahead]:

Legion. Because one's a nonhuman ally with a fascinating voice and the other's a geth. Plus Garrus has no real personal stake in the 'war against the geth' so I think it'll be interesting- and awkward- to hear them talk.

[hr]

Garrus: So, um. Since you're mostly sapient beings and all, don't you have infighting or wars?

Legion: No.

Garrus: But...how's that possible? Surely one of you goes rogue from time to time, like...

Legion: Me?

Garrus: No! No! I mean, do you ever have to kill one of your own or something?

Legion: We do not subscribe to the same kind of 'kill-everything-that-bothers-us' mentality you fleshy, weak organics do. We talk things out. Eventually we settle things accordingly.

Garrus: ...

Legion: Problem, Turian?

Garrus: Shepard, where's its off switch?

So far it's Mordin. I find him to be amusing even when he's being deadpan serious. Probably because of how he talks. But he actually says some really interesting things as well. I didn't care much for Salarians in Mass Effect, but talking to Mordin has made me realize that they actually are an interesting species.

And like most people I still like Wrex. He's still a good character in Mass Effect 2, unlike Garrus. I really don't like Garrus that much anymore. He's leaning heavily to the renegade side in the sequel, which pisses me off since it's like every conversation I had with him in Mass Effect never fucking happened.

Still don't see why people love Tali so much, though that's probably because Mass Effect 2 has made me hate Quarians. All of them are so bloody useless.

Garrus hands down for ME1

Oh and that thing you do with the archangel during that one part was hilarious.

Ashley Williams and Kaidan Alenko, as they happily stayed on the ship and kept it protected, while I embarked on missions with Wrex and Garrus - Characters that are more interesting than a whiny, angsty magician ("Waaah, waaah! They made me like this since I was born!"), and a crazy, racist, military *****.
I thought I was going to have to smack you as I first saw this, but you turned it around. I tried to like Ashley, but she's just a total *****, I couldn't take it...

I always used Wrex and Tali in the first game. Tali more for her tech skill, but I just love Wrex. The character was great overall, and the voice acting matched his persona perfectly. But before I had them, I had to go with my old buddy Garrus, because he's just...cool. Turians are awesome, I just wish he and Nihilus had swapped their faces.

I haven't found all of the possible party members for ME2, but I do have a liking for my new-found Drell teammate, and Archangel is just awesome. I like Miranda as a character, but I find she dies a lot, whether it be my fault or not...I dunno. Was it necessary for BioWare to make her look like she has fake tits, and the worlds largest ass? In one part of the game, she walks around during the dialogue and it is just completely zoomed in on it.

Tie between Tali and Wrex. Wrex has general awesomeness going for him, but Tali has a more interesting and realistic personality.

I guess I'm gonna go with Wrex, probably because he was really useful in gameplay and, well, he's just so awesome.

But then again I haven't played the second game yet so I'm not 100% sure yet. From what I heard Tali is probably gonna be my favorite ME 2 character.

Maybe it's just my sick love for Biotics, but I really like Jack (Which caught me by surprise.. I'm full Paragon, I don't think of her as renegade. She's cool peoples. Just got screwed over a lot in her life). Easily my favorite ME1/2 squad member right there.

I also like the IDEA of.. umm.. hmm.. how to put this without spoiling anything..
The possible adept who you can recruit who is not the Justicar.
I just couldn't bring myself to recruit her on my first playthrough. Damn morals. I'll grab her on my renegade playthrough though. She seems brutal, but interesting.

ME1 I didn't really connect much to any of the characters, to be perfectly honest. Don't understand everyone's obsession with Garrus. =P
Wrex was pretty cool, I guess. I respected him more after his appearance in ME2.

Saying Wrex is in it kinda ruined it for me cuz i'm not that far, good job posting a plot spoiler when you said no spoilers please
Wrex isn't a party member in Mass effect 2.
You just killed ME2 for me.

I can't buy it without Wrex as a party member.
Bioware said he wouldn't be a party member months ago. (I never said he wasn't in the game, as long as you saved him in the first one)

Oh ha ha

I'd say badass Garrus(side quest speaks for itself) or genius comedian Mordin(Souplex has that covered)

Mordin also seems to be the best written charecter in any Bioware game as he had new respones every time I talked to him and all were hillarious.

This thread also seems to need a poll
You see what I did there? : P

Oh, I see what you did there.
Wink wink, nudge nudge.
You put "Garrus, Mordin and Arkangel" instead of "Garrus, Mordin and Archangel."
You sly fox, you.

And I want a poll to

You could just use spoiler tags you know.

See? So if someone reads this it's their own fault, not yours.

And are you talking about Samara's daughter Morinth?

Ahh, true. Didn't think of that, I'm new here. (New posting.. been watching vids on the escapist for a long time.)

Yeah, Morinth. I was.. intrigued when I realized I'd have the choice between killing her or her mother in my first playthrough. Not enough to actually dent my paragon image with killing someone with so much authority over Asari, but hey.

I was surprised when that choice came up as well. However, even if I was playing a renegade character I'm not so sure I would choose Morinth.

Samara may follow that ridiculously brutal code, but for the time being she has sworn to follow your every order and command. Morinth, on the other hand, is a psycho ***** that was trying to eat your brain.

I think picking Morinth might not be the renegade option but rather the stupid option. It could easily lead to you getting killed. Still curious about it though. Will probably try it in the future.

Meh. If I can let someone like Jack into my group and end up finding the good in her and SHE can end up being my favorite squad member, I'm sure that someone like Morinth can't be all bad to have around. Also, I've heard of people beating the game with her.. I think. As in, I remember someone mentioning having her as their bug-repelling shield.. and they were talking about a successful - no death ending. I think it's just thrown in there as a kind of "Oh hey look, we're giving you choice!" kind of thing. Don't think it's one of those things that ends up biting you in the ass xD
At least.. not until Mass Effect 3 comes around.
And then, who knows. xD
I can see you getting in trouble for killing an asari Justicar, at the very very least.
And if that did happen, she would be interesting to have (on my second playthrough) just to see if it DOES lead to something like that.

I highly doubt there will be any brain sucking though. At least, not of you or anyone you know.
